Editing NPC in an existing mod?

Hi folks. I'm having some trouble editing a npc's appearance in an existing npc replacer mod. This mod to be exact: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48587/ (Note: I know that this is a mod for LE, but it works fine on SE) All I'm trying to do is edit the characters hair to something from the KS Hair mod. The trouble is, when it comes to generating new facegen data, the face that shows up in the CK just...isn't the same one as in the mod. Like if I load up the mod in the CK and have a look at Elisif, she looks nothing like she does in the mod, and the exported facegen corresponds to the "wrong" face that shows up in the CK, and I end up with the hair from KS that I wanted but on a completely different and, pretty plain looking, face.

I've tried following multiple guides on how to edit an npc's appearance but ever one results in the same outcome as I described above. I don't know if there is something about this mod that is different that I'm not realising, but I'm hoping that a more experienced modder here on the forum might be able to tell me what's going wrong (maybe load up the mod in CK yourself and see what I mean) and suggest a way to make the changes I want to make properly?

Hopefully I explained my situation properly. I was kind of struggling to put the problem into words!

Can't say I "know" what's going on, but the linked mod shows that Enhanced Character Edit was used in the follower creation. In my albeit limited experience, ECE characters usually have distinctively ECE heads/faces as compared with regular heads. As well, "regular" head resources differ from the newer high-poly assets, so when two of them are inadvertently mixed via mods and presets and such, you can end up with some odd results.

I see things like that happen when I download a racemenu preset, then apply it to my player, only to find that although the body matches the mod's snapshots, the head is neither my original nor the one I was supposed to see, and in all but one case, results in a dull "potato" face of one kind or another. And some are actually quite ghoulish.

So I suspect it's the some sort of clash in the head meshes. I think I've even read a few posts here and there that suggest the same, at least for racemenu preset distortions, although I can't cite any off hand. And by extension, I suspect it might-could be yours too. Or more precisely, the head mesh of the face you want, vs the host NPC/player head mesh.

So... If ECE is needed, the next question to answer might be, do you have ECE installed?

ok final thought. I could be way off. Hope I am and it's somethin stupid simple and someone provides the answer in a post after this. But just in case they don't... it's something to chase. Best of luck.

When editing the elisif mod in CK include the KS hairdos when you mark the elisif mod esp as active file. Then the hair styles will appear in the elisif dropdown box. select which hair you want and resave it then it should appear. Now of course I would only do it this way if it was just for personal use though since it would from then on require the ks hairdos mod to be installed to work. Otherwise your gonna have to do it a longer version by pulling the meshes and textures from the ks hairdos mod and assigning them to the npc in the elisif mod. If that makes sense.

I made a recording of how I did it, but like i said, only use this on your own game, because it effects the original mod.

Thanks for the responses guys! Unfortunately they don't seem to have helped me figure out the issue. I did not have ECE installed so I tried installing it and seeing if that made any difference. Unfortunately I'm still getting the issue of the CK loading up the wrong facegen data for Elisif. You can see the exact issue that I'm having in the video that ocloki posted (thanks for going out of your way to make that video just for me btw, your awesome!), the face that loaded up in the CK is not the face from the mod's download page, or even what appears in game. So if I make the changes the video suggests, which unfortunately I had already tried to before, I get the hair I want but I also get the weird potato face that the CK generated along with it.

It might help to clarify that other mods that change npc appearances, when loaded up in the CK, display the npc's appearance exactly as the pictures on their download pages, and there is no problem making edits to them if I wish. It's only this one mod that seems to be different and I cannot figure out why!

sorry I misread what you were talking about. You mean the face is different from the mod picture. I had another NPC change mod installed. I just installed the mod without the other mod on and it looks the same as the mod pic. Might look different a little due to the mods the author had installed. Maybe you have something else changing her face. Try moving the mod to the bottom of your list so it loads last. Here is a screenshot of before and after I installed it.
