If you've read the Amber novels Skyrim would be the ultimate engine to have the power struggle between Corwin and Eric to take the throne. Put the High City of Amber on the coast and you could have the mirror-cities of Rebma beneath the waves and Tir-Na Nog'th in the sky. You'd have the Trumps for fast-travel or use Shadow-shifting.

Can you imagine walking the Pattern in the depths of the castle and teleporting anywhere?

Or making a hellride through Shadows to Earth?

PLEASE, SOMEONE IN OUR INCREDIBLY TALENTED MODDER'S SECTION MAKE THIS AND MAKE AN OLD(ER) MAN HAPPY!

I read the Amber series many years ago and see several problems in converting it to a game based on the Skyrim world. Besides it being an enormous amount of work.

This is not a mod, but an entirely different game just based on the Skyrim game engine - and as such will require a team of talented programers several years to complete ( similar to the Nehrim total conversion of Oblivion)

Maybe some of the Amber concepts could be made into mods without doing a total conversion.

Then you run into legal constraints - The books are copyrighted, and the author, or his agents may not want a game made where they don't get paid. Or the game rights may have already been sold or assigned to someone who will demand it be removed - Not good if someone has put months of intensive work into making it. This is why do you not see a Harry Potter total conversion. It was tried then shot down by Ms R's lawyers after many hours of work - the same with a Tolkein conversion - you can see some mods based on them, but if they even use the names of characters or places from the books they may get a cease and desist letter from a law firm.

If you are serious, I would suggest first contacting Roger Zelazny or his agent for permission to use his work in this way. Then, if you insist on using the ancient and heavily patched Bethsoft version of the 32 bit 15 year old Gambyyo engine, contact Bethsoft to get approval. OR, find a newer game engine - preferably 64 bit that you can use - there are several FREE ones available.

Btw, Roger Zelazny died years ago, his estate is managed by his former companion Jane Lindskold, a writer of fantasy and co-writer on his last two books.

She might be amenable to the idea.
