Cakeman151515
My first ever mod and maybe my last if this doesn't go well. Basically, I'm a 3d modeler but have few other skills. I made a from scratch unique version of the Machete Gladius found on high ranking legion member's in New Vegas. If i did this right it should be on screen somewhere. However, I have ,exactly, zero clue how to put it in the game. Or. Even if I did it right so it could be put in the game. Any advise would be very nice. Of coarse I'll credit you.I would even accept handing over the files so someone else could make the mod.I just want to know my time learning these 3D skills wasn't wasted. sullyvanj93
There are a few different options when adding additional items into the game. Assuming that you do not want to replace the current Machete Gladius, which I'm gathering is not the goal. The first is simply finding a location (or locations) you wish the item to appear and manually placing them in the render window. This is for if you want the player to "find" the item as loot in a certain worldspace. The second option is adding it to a specific NPC's (or container's) inventory. This will allow the NPC to use the item, and so long as it's marked usable by the player, can be looted as well. This does run a small risk of incompatibility if another mod also alters that specific NPC's inventory. To avoid this, you could actually create your own unique NPC if you are wanting this to be considered a unique item coming from a "boss" of sorts. Same can be said for creating your own container for the player to find. A third option is adding the weapon to the proper lists. Within the game, there are countless item lists that group a number of items together. Through these lists, you can randomly and/or strategically disperse your item in a natural-feeling way throughout the game. This option is for if you want your weapon to appear in multiple places, be it NPC's inventories, vendors, random loot boxes, etc. If you would like a good example of these lists, I recommend searching "WeapNVmachete" in your geck, right clicking, and selecting "Use Info". You will see a number of level lists in which the standard Machete weapon appears, and how it is dispersed throughout the game. Really, it just depends on how you want your item to appear. On the ground? In a container? In use by an NPC? Evenly dispersed throughout applicable NPCs/etc? What is your goal? At the moment all I have is the model. I don't know how to put it into the geck or register it as a weapon. I got a good idea on the stats and how to place. But importing is the issue. sullyvanj93
Aaaaah I understand. Let me send you a PM to give you a quick overview. But honestly, you'll find scores of fantastic tutorials on youtube that will be able to explain a lot better than my writing instructions can. Just a quick "Fallout Geck creating custom weapon" will get you some solid options.
