Question: How to tell if a MOD is active?

I've installed a bunch of MOD's and I'd like to know how to determine if they're operating when I run the game. The reason I want this information is to simply be sure I've installed them in the correct location.

I use Windows 7 and believe this to be the right location ( C:\Users\Franpa\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override ), but still I'd like an in-game confirmation or a log file generated by the game to confirm the mods are in effect.

Except for ".dazip" files which will be listed on the "Installed content" screen, there's no such thing as a log file or "confirmation" for a particular mod. You just have to play the game to see. And the vast majority of mods for DAO (including all the ones that go in the "\override" folder) are not ".dazip" files.

See this article for more information about the various types and how to use them:

Using Dragon Age Mods for Dummies.

But as for the proper location for any given mod, that depends on the mod. Read the author's installation instructions. (But when they say "place in your override folder..." they almost always mean the one you listed in your post.)

The .Log files found in "\Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age\Logs\ " tells you which mods are running and which are disabled...

That file only contains system info and the ".dazips" you're running. The same list as displayed on the "Additional Content" screen. (This log file is where that information is stored.)

But if you're using any of the other sorts of mods they won't be listed in the log.

The log itself looks like this, with the "official" DLC and Bonus items in white and I've highlighted mods in red:

  Reveal hidden contents

The log above shows less than a quarter (by count) of the total number I'm mods I'm using for my current game. Most are located in the "\override" folder, and so don't appear here.

BTW: This list of "AddIns" is how the game keeps track of what was in-use when making a particular save, and so it asks if you want to "Force Load" when something has been removed and you re-load that save.
