silverf51
I'm having a problem where Oblivion freezes on startup. I start the game, see the loading screen (my ini is configured to skip the intro movies), but it never loads. It just sits there at nothing, frozen. I have to use the task manager to forcibly quit Oblivion. I tried messing around with recently installed mods, but that didn't fix it. I keep a clean copy of Oblivion on my hard drive as a backup (it has Knights and SI. It's otherwise completely unmodded), I swapped it out with my modded one, made sure that it was using a default ini, and tried launching that. As soon as I skipped the intro video it froze just the same. I'm not even sure where to begin troubleshooting this problem anymore, any suggestions? Drakynval
Try using the regular ini file to see if that's causing the problem.
discovery1
System? This is important, if your gpu is under sized the game will freeze or has it run perfectly ok until you added mods?Try deleting the ini file inside documents, games, it will reinstall itself when the game boots.Try running it with out any mods, if that is ok then i would suggest that the game is trying to load a mod with a missing dependency file which will cause a freeze or ctd!Good luck
severr
By starting the game do you mean starting a new game or loading an existing save? If its the latter its possible that your save is corrupt due to multiple install/uninstall of mods. Try repairing your save in Wrye bash. Make sure you rebuild you bashed patch after every change you make in your mods. Can you start a new game?also what do you mean by swapping out with an unmodded one? Mods can change your my documents folder in general not just the ini. Edited November 30, 2013 by severr
