Finelarme
Hello everyone, I am making some tests for potato computers and here is my current problem https://i.ibb.co/sP6Rkrf/distant-texture.png (I use the mod "Tamrielic Textures SE 1 - Landscapes" for my modded/nearby ground textures). 1 - I guess my distant textures are the LOD textures version of my vanilla/nearby ground textures, right ? 2 - To solve this, I just have to make the LOD textures version (using this tutorial https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/articles/2390) of my modded/nearby ground textures, to have better distant texture, right ? I have changed my .ini settings but it doesn't change anything, so I guess it is about the LOD. NB : I will make very light LOD textures of course, because it is for potato computers, but I want to understand the problem. Thank you for your advices. Dashyburn
Yes you need to setup and run xLodGen for landscape LOD and DynDOLOD for object and tree LOD On the guide you linked look at Sheson's post with links to DynDOLOD info I have an ancient potato but my Skyrim is set up well and runs on medium between mostly 50-60 fps, I generate DynDOLOD with medium settings. If you're new to modding I can give you a list on how to get this game running well and looking good on a potato. Finelarme
Thank you for your answer @Dashyburn. I am gonna check these xLodGen/DynDOLOD. Yes, your list would be really useful indeed. I search good mods that doesn't eat all my FPS. NB : My GPU is a 1Go fanless (equivalent to a 512Mb Nvidia lol).
Dashyburn
Whoa, l have Nvidia GTX 660 Ti 2GB GPU which is not great but you have even less to work with. UPOT (Unofficial Performance Optimized Textures) This will assist you greatly https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/21166 Skyland AIO 1K textures, half the size of the games default textures and look brilliant (load after UPOT so it overrides UPOT, don't install landscape) https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/34179 Cathedral Landscapes https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/21954 Cathedral 3D Pine Grass https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/42032 Grass FPS Booster, works incredibly well https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/20082 eFPS https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/54907 Try these out and let me know how they go, the cathedral landscape and grass are more performance friendly than vanilla, in the grass FPS booster .ini set iMinGrassSize =128 for maximum FPS boost but not a great deal of grass is visible, or try 100 for a good boost and decent grass.
