i dont know why this has happened

ok ive put this in the fallout 3 forums cos fo3 is more buggy, but anyway for some reason both fo3 AND oblivion wont work the crash as soon as they start up from the launchers, and ive never had this problem with oblivion before. ive tried to uninstall and reinstall but that doesnt work. also when i try to uninstall fo3 i get a message saying setup has stopped working, so therfore i cant uninstall fo3. can someone please help me?

This sounds like a problem you need to contact Bethsoft directly about.

 

Answer these quesitons:

What OS?

Did you close any running programs?

Did empty your temporary folder?

Then try to run the Setup again?

What Error code was given?

 

You may need to do a "Disk Check" on the harddrive you installed FO3 on.

 

**WARNING** messing with the registry can be dangerous if you don't do the following correctly. Meaning windows may just not work if you delete the wrong thing. As well I hold no responsibility to anything that happens as this list is pulled from many people that have told me what to do.

Force Uninstall:

1. Run -> regedit

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software

--look for a 'folder' titled the name of the game you want to remove (sometimes it's in a sub-branch titled with the name of the game's publisher). Once you are sure this IS the right 'folder', highlight it and select Delete from the Edit menu.

4. Navigate to your disk drive and delete the fallout 3 folder

sounds like a 3d card or a direct x problem

 

try scandisk frist and then defag your drives

 

update your 3d card and direct x and sound card may help

 

also do a full windows update and last thing get a disk cleaner like ccleaner

i would not start messing around with regedit you have been warned

 

if you have to del fallout 3 get a tool like Glary Utilities if you cant uninstall the norm way

I'm one of those people that don't trust other programs to mess with my registry, far to many of my friends had thier computers wrecked by them.

 

I still say you should at least LOOK (don't delete if you aren't comfortable) for Fallout 3 in the registry as I have stated above.

 

Again, be warned, if you delete the wrong file it could ultimately require you to rebot via CD/DVD, USB or Floppy A.

ive gone in the registry and deleted the fallout 3 folder and reinstalled the game and everything is working now including oblivion :thanks:
