40k mod

Hello all, bear with me i am typing up what is entering my head, as such it may lack complete cohesion. Basically, having seen some awesome 40k armour/weapon addons out there I believe that a 40k mod would be possible, and very doable.

Such a mod would best utilise(as well as the obvious armours and weapons) Marts mutant mod (including the increased spawns mod) Enclave Commander (For Imperial guard reinforcements) and the roleplayers character select addon.

Such a mod would have to be limited to agents of the inquisition, I say this as simply fielding even a tactical squad of space marines would be unwieldy in game terms, yet a Grey knight Justicar, a couple of GK henchmen and enclave commander Imperial guard stormtroopers in a Valkerie would work well.

Deathwatch would also work in small teams, especially as essentially Orks and Genestealers are already in game (come on guys, supermutants and deathclaws).

GK are also a possibility, (chaos marines, traitor guard, demons - again see mr deathclawm not to mention ghouls).

Heck even the Ordo Hereticus get more than their fair share of possibility (Mutants, ghouls)

An inquisitor would have higher charisma by default than an average space marine (say +4 starting charisma) wheras a space marine would be +2 STR and END)

An eldar would be +2 agi and -2 luck i would say... but in mentioning Eldar i get ahead of myself.

Rather than have all the action confined to one planet maybe it;s possible to utilise a GTS-ish system, with your main map being inside of a GK strike cruiser/Imperial Battleship /Thunderhawk transport. and have some kind of script to travel to different plug in planets. The inside of rivet city could just look a bit grimier and it'd be perfect =).

The pitt looks very much like an Imperial industrial area as is also...

Anyway, i think my end point is with all the 40k addons out there, there is plenty of material to fairly easily make an alpha mod, and with a little polish it would be easy for someone with a little knowledge to do the impossible - actually release a 40k mod (lets face it, it doesn't happen often).

Hope someone gives this some thought, while i know little about modding myself i am a big 40k fan and thus an idea monkey. Additionally i have a British accent which could be V handy for voice acting purposes.

Remember though, ususally all 3 different wings of the Inquisition have reason to meddle in some affair or another, and they can ALWAYS requisition whatever they want. This mod therefore should allow space marines of varius different chapters and types, as well as Nuns with guns, Imperial guard types etc.

Orks and Genestealers are already in game (come on guys, supermutants and deathclaws).

No. Neither of those are anything like the two races in question. Apart from having greenish skin and muscles Super Mutants are nowhere near structured like Orks (note the Orks head being positioned lower on the torso and more forward. With at the very least the Ork shoulders reaching their jawline.) plus the fact Orks are more blockish in their features especially in the facial areas.

And Deathclaws as Genestealers:

Generally that's my main issue with the 40k TC Mod they are working on over on Bethesda's forums. Too much trying to force things into things they can't be.

Now there is one idea that has merit and that is Mutants for more precisely a mutant uprising on an important Imperial world, and yes Inquisition would be the better fit to deal with such a problem, though Space Marines do have merit if you work in the "from child to recruit to Space Marine" angle.

1. We have Super Mutants who are just like Necromunda Scavvy Scalies (allot easier than making them Orks).

2. We have Ghouls who are just like Necromunda Scavvy Plague Zombies (whether in Feral or standard form).

3. We have Troggs (from The Pitt) who are just like Necromunda Scavvy Ghouls.

4. We have the Diseased Human races (also from The Pitt) who are just like Necromunda Scavvy Scavies.

5. We have the Raider races who'd make perfect conscripted gangers, mercs or cultists.

Etc etc.

A bit on Scavvies for reference:

Scavvies are humans with mutations too obvious to hide, banished from normal settlements. In Scavvie gangs, the very dregs of society scrape out an existence robbing guilder caravans, raiding isolated settlements and just generally scavenging whatever they can to survive. Their bands often include a stable sub-species of mutant, the giant reptilian Scalies. Scavvies have often been known to use bait to lure Plague zombies to attack rival gangs during their raids.

Excellent points there, I suspect that people don't want to do a 40k mod due to legal reasons (the GW legal team can be arses).

But let me explain why i said genestealer deathclaw/supermutant ork.

Forget what the races look like. polygons are very VERY mutable. Ben Kenobi said it best "your eyes can decieve you, don't trust them"

look at their combat style.

look in fact just at their combat style.

the genestealer and deathclaw are both fast, tough and have melee attacks that tear right through armour.

orks and supermutants both as they get older/fight more they get bigger. They both favour melee and when that fails MORE DAKKA! both big and tough.

So just increase the deathclaws attack rate , give it a new model. give the ork weapons way more spread, new model. game. They are just two examples. the 40k universe is vast.

Now a necromunda mod is a fantastic idea, you could very easily have a good hive in fallout 3 but, i am going to say something that would in some circles get me beaten up, shot, hung drawn and quartered and then thrown into the sea: It has no space marines. There, I said it. sorry but 40k is about the wicked awesomeness of the marines. Hence i was thinking inquisitor based, it cuts the numbers, it keeps the boys in blue/silver/black/red/whatever. With inquisitor you get the option to play anyone you want to. Guardsman veteran, check. Quizzie? check. Sister of battle? a very sexy check. Ganger? Grey Knight? Rogue Trader? check check checkity check.

I mentioned enclave commander before.

how cool, how cool would it be to order a maurauder bombing run into an area, then drop a valkrie full of stormtroopers into an area to pacify.

Or maybe as a ganger fight your way out of an arbites trap. Maybe a lone grey knight seperated from his fellows in a freak teleporter accident....

Infinite options.

I wasn't suggesting a Necromunda mod, I was pointing out similarities between 40k canon mutants (of which the Scavvies happen to have a model line I could use to point out similarities) and the general mutantness of Fallout 3's current assets. I was pointing out how totally workable a planet scale mutant uprising would be (of course it wouldn't be that bland either, the uprising could be a cover for a Chaos cult who is perhaps working with some mysterious Xenos third party - see the Alien Hybrid mod).
