stebbinsd
The reward for the quest "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood" is nothing short of insulting. So, let me get this straight: I singlehandedly took down the most notorious assassin's group in the history of Tamriel, and for that, I get... less than enough money to even buy the cheapest house in the game?! ARE YOU SH*TING ME?!!! Forget a king; that job should be worth a god's ransom! Not only that, but the quest itself is extremely underwhelming. You run in there, raise a little hell, and suddenly, it's over before it begins. Your one-man assault (because remember... no followers allowed) is a mere footnote on the millenia of death they are responsible for. The destruction of the most notorious group of assassins in the history of Nirn should be much grander, and harder to pull off than a simple bandit bounty. Can someone please make a mod where you destroy the Dark Brotherhood, not just by running in there and swinging and axe, but through an actual quest line, giving the DB the grandious destruction that it deserves? Ideally, I picture it as you joining the Penitus Occulatus, at which point you will be issued a full suit of PO armor and given a bed at the PO Outpost in Dragon Bridge to sleep in and a non-respawning container at the foot. As the questline progresses, you can be given a horse with stats identical to Shadowmere, spy on this jester dude as he enters the Dawnstar sanctuary and learn the passphrase (thus giving you access there), and then, when the Emperor's decoy is poisoned with the Jarrin Root, you are one of the three PO agents waiting on the balcony to greet him (you know... that scene where Maro says "Kill him, and make sure there's nothing left to bury," onl you're on the other side). When that assassin's dead, you and Maro join the raid on the Falkreath sanctuary, where you discover the Night Mother's body. According to some journals left by some guy namd Cicero, the Night Mother can always rebuild the Dark Brotherhood by communicating telepathically with a person she chooses as "listener." So, Maro reasons, the obvious solution is to destroy this corpse. He offers you the honor of doing so, and if you agree to, he will give you his "Commander Maro's Torch," and ask you to use his torch to do it (just like the climax of the Civil War questline). Any takers? Edited September 25, 2013 by stebbinsd
primem0ver
I second that motion. Actually... I would/could make it part of a mod that I started and am half serious about finishing. However, it would me part of a much larger mod that is not really focused the Dark Brotherhood. But rather a competing cult that is less notorious in nature. Plus, Skyrim modding is new to me and not as easy as some other games.
stebbinsd
Well, can somebody actually take up this mod who is actually serious about finishing it?
reallifegirl
*Spoilers* Sorry I'm not going to do this for you however there is actually some wrongs in your description of the quest, although i think it would be fun and interesting. The player is actually the listener so you would actually have to burn yourself. So maybe in some book it says that you're the listener and Maro actually wants to burn you. So I think that would be a good twist. You should really do the "stay with the dark brotherhood" questline though. You'll know more about the lore and it's a lot more fun and it's a lot longer and theres a good twist at the end. The "Destroy" questline is worse because the other one is so good. Bozzz123
It would be pretty cool if as you run in and destroy the dark brotherhood the night mother is there and she talks to you. You either have the option of killing her and everybody else, or you could accept her offer which woudl start the emperor questline.
