Morrowind Mods installed with no errors but won't load?

Hello all, so this is my first experience installing mods and am having some troubles. So I've installed morrowing/bloodmoon/tribunal and am looking to add some mods (right now just better heads and better bodies). I've downloaded, extracted, and moved the mods (esp files, mesh folders, etc) to the data files folder. When i start up the game i go to data files and check the boxes for the mods. Then I start up the game and it loads fine, except that the mods don't seem to load i.e. the textures and graphics are still the same. I've tried loading old files and starting new games neither works. Any ideas what the problem is? I have a no CD crack and I wouldn't think that would cause any problems but I am new to this. Thanks.
