Looking for some installation details.

Hi! I've been viewing this site for awhile, but only recently got oblivion. I've played it before on a friend's console, but I wanted to abuse the fact that I can install mods to change my experience. My goal is to change the existing races (female) to something far less hideous in both body and face, and then get something nice to stare at whenever I open my inventory screen. I have the right idea I think, but maybe in my haste I have missed something along the way. Heres what I have done:

Installed successfully Colourwheel's armor changer.

Installed successfully HGEC and EC.

Installed successfully OBMM.

I've been using the "create omod" feature of OBMM whenever I download a mod to use it easily inside OBMM if it doesn't already include a .omod file.

Ok, enough chitchat, heres my issue:

I have not been able to get a face changer to work, nor a custom race.

  • I've tried installing Ren's beauty pack, Beautiful people, Corean, and the custom race fix.
  • I've used both the "create omod" method for running them from the OBMM launcher, and the direct copy method where you insert the files into ...\Oblivion\Data.
  • I've tried starting the game from the oblivion launcher and selecting the corresponding .esp file for the new races/faces.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure what I don't understand, and I definitely have put in the time to try and figure it out on my own. Thanks for your time!

Sorry I forgot that detail, let me explain.

I don't see the new race at the character customization menu (default one, comes with the game) when I start a new game, or load my save at the exit of the sewers. Ren, Corean, and Beautiful all claim to have custom races, while the full ren and beautiful also claim to change the default race faces.

I hope that clarifies.

are you useing other mods besides custom races and bodies? If so what are they and a load order please.

also if your going to omod files, don't add them again manually. did you activate the mods, either by obmm,or if you manually installed by check marking them?

I am currently trying to use these mods, which are activated on the righthand side listbox of OBMM:

EC

HGEC

Colourwheel's Armor Replacer

As for the .esps I'm trying to load:

KT_CustomRaceFix.esp

IDKRRR_C_race.esp

Which are the race fix and Corean respectively.

As for your second question, I have tried both methods independently. I'll double check that last part though, just to be sure. I have a separate backup of my ...\Oblivion\Data just for this reason.

So, any thoughts? I can't seem to change the order on the OBMM .omods. But the .esps can be changed, and they are in this order:

Oblivion Base

KT_CustomRace

IDKRRR_C_race

in the list. If I understand correctly, it is loading the base, then replacing the files sequentially down the list. Still, any help would be appreciated; Thanks for your time.

I am not clear as to whether you have deactivated your esp.

As Dez said, only one at a time. If you are using an OMOD then

you do not need the esp. at all. Mods with both esp and OMOD are

either/or situations.

HGEC has nothing to do with race, It is a body replacer only.

Same with colourwheels armour.

If I remember correctly KT's custom race fixer is used to change race

after you have started a game and want to change the race of your player character.

Does Corean have a race mod ? I only have Corean's hair. It is used in many custom races.

EDIT: I am not familiar with the other mods, but I wonder. Are you actually using any custom race

mods, or only components that can be used to create custom races in CS ?

The race file I am trying to load:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15568

There are 4 files on that summary page, and I downloaded the one labeled just: "corean"

This has a .esp file in it as well as textures and meshes. So, I assume it adds races.

I'm currently trying to remake the omod, and start a new game with just this one activated. Maybe that will change things.

And I know HGEC doesn't add races, or EC, or colourwheels. I never claimed those did. In fact I was able to install those perfectly fine. But what you bring up about these mods is a good point, since it doesn't change the look of the base races, it won't necessarily alter my game experience.

Anyway, I'll post again soon with an update.
