KCD - How to Get Lockpicks from Fritz in Skalitz - and Trigger Other Missable Helps

My Method to Get Lockpicks from Fritz and Trigger Other Missable Helps:

***Important*** Do not obtain any Groschen/stuff before getting the lockpicks, nor visit the charcoal vendor.

"Get Lockpicks from Fritz" isn't triggered if you already have enough money to purchase the charcoal.

Also, follow these steps for hidden lore/story, skill-ups and more.

1. Opening scene conversation with mom choose "With Bianca" (Vitality), then "Archery with Matt" (Agility)

as these stats increase at much slower rate than Strength and Speach.

1. Pick flowers until dad is miffed. Walk closely by dad occasionally to check his mood, but don't

engage in conversation with him yet. Eventually, dad will voice his annoyance when you walk past.

(Do this because he doesn't always give you a speech check unless he is annoyed. It's a free skill-up

that could be missed.) When he says something to the effect of "Come here, I need your help!" speak

with him and respond with "I had to do something" (Speech) and get his quest.

You could choose the charisma option, but at this point in the game you are in greater need of speech.

Strength option will fail.

2. Immediately go fight and lose to Kunesh. Get Prompt to "Find another way."

Enter Kunesh's house, crouch towards chest, get prompt to "Get lockpicks from Fritz."

3. Go visit mom to get patched up. (idk, but vaguely remember this is important toward learning first-aid,

or it was previously important in prior game versions. ?? I still do this for immersion.)

4. Go to the tavern and speak with Matt and Fritz. Respond with "I won't help."

Immediately chase Fritz and talk to him. Ask for lockpicks.

5. Follow them to Deusch's house and do the turd throwing, Deutsch fight, and run to Kunesh's house.

Don't speak to the guys again, yet.

6. Sneak into Kunesh's house and pick the lock on the chest. Don't take the items yet.

Sometimes, the game still marks the items as stealing, which makes them unsellable at this point.

7. Go back to the guys and talk to Matt. Ask for help with Kunesh. Fight Kunesh and win.

Gain free access to his house and stuff. Go inside and retrieve chest contents if no longer marked as stealing.

Go outside and take the axe also, if not marked as stealing.

Sometimes, you may have to wait a few moments until the "steal" tag is no longer on the items.

When Kunesh is seated on the ground and settled, stand in front of him until he says "Take what you want..."

then the "steal" tag should no longer be present on the items.

8. Go get patched up by mom again.

(For immersion, cherish this moment with Mom as you know what is soon to pass.)

9. Go sell flowers and stuff for Groschen to buy charcoal.

10. Free roam. Pick flowers, level up skills until you are ready to leave Skalitz and advance the

story, then get the hilt and beer and go back to dad.
