Me and my fail

Lo folks, I'm in a pickle and I wonder if you folks could help.

I've just started a new game, it's liberally modded up, and I've got the Anchorage and Pitt DLC installed too. No problems at all so far except that I think I may have done something bad regarding the Anchorage mission.

So, at level 4, with an assortment of decent weapons but very little ammo and other goodies I decide to get into the Anchorage story. So I follow the radio signal to the place and lo and behold it's crawling with Super Mutants. All according to the script so far, except these mutants kill everybody. Even me a few times, until I decide to cheese it.

The problem I now have is that all the Outcasts at the contact point are dead, the place has still got a lot of muties roaming around but I figure that is a problem that I can resolve with the diplomatic use of some grenades later. The question is though, with these Outcasts dead, can the mission proceed or do I need them alive? I'm going to have to almost restart completely if the mission is broken, so I'd like to know if I can progress before I carry on playing or if I should just knock it on the head and start from my earlier save point.

Any help much appreciated via the medium of cookies.

lmao i laugh so much at this cheese it .......lol its been a long time

are they all dead, lol wow never saw that one coming just reload from the autosave before you enter the place or just use console commands to resurrect them , i dont think it will matter if you keep going you will see a lift just go down it, also i bet the main outcasts you cant kill they just get knocked out and get up again i thnk everthing will be ok, tomorrow i will kill everone off and test it for you :)

i still can`t i still can't believe they all died , so this is why they are called the outcasts sometimes they suck bad hehe and all die!

also i did it about level 4 did not lose one outcast to the Super Mutants but i guess somethimes they are SUPER Mutants

To access the console, use the tilde key (~) while in-game (Unpaused). The HUD will disappear and you will get a prompt (|) in the lower left corner of the screen where you can type-in code(s).

prid base_id - set an id target. Same as clicking, but will work even if the target isn't visible.

resurrect - resurrect NPC (Will also reset the inventory!)

I use a levelled list thing, and a general super mutant buff, and a spawn increaser (these are offset by tweaked weapons damage, although this comes into play more when I have higher skills). The net result of this was (due I guess to bad luck with the spawner as much as anything) about fifteen mutants at least, maybe more I was shooting too much to count them, and about half or so at least were masters. Against just three Outcast bods they were able to stomp them pretty quickly.

Cheese it, in true Robot House style, has sort of been my motto so far. Think I may have bitten off more than I can chew...

It shouldn't matter if those Outcasts are dead, in fact it doesn't even matter if you wipe out the ones inside the base either (evil character using the line "I met your kind at Fort Independance, I killed them all" heh). You will always have access to the simulation.

Ahaa, coolbeans. Here, so ya'll can get the jist of what took out the Outcasts, is a couple of screenies of the horde of super mutants... This is the heap at the bottom of the stair well. Some of these were bodies that dropped from the top, some I caught flat footed when I came out the gate with a missile launcher.

And these are the guys at the top of the stairs. I'm now level 8 (level thanks to them as it goes). Took a couple down with rifle fire at the end, but the big killer for me was a batch of Nuka Grenades I'd cooked up. Chucked them in VATS over the edge into the crowd and it was a barbecue of biblical proportions. Rifle picked off the par-boiled stragglers.
