slow but steady. id say im about 90% done the texturing and then ill start to get it working in game. but my fallout has been crashing every 30 seconds this week, so ill have to get that sorted first in order to test it. hopefully ill get some time this weekend to work some things out.

not yet, but thats probably my next step.

 

edit: i might as well open this dialogue now regarding the suit. heres what i was thinking, but this all up for debate:

 

the suit and the headgear are separate, but only give their bonus (medic skill +10?) when worn together an additional hat will be added as its own piece a la TheOutlanders request, but the mask will not be available without the hat.

the reason im leaning this way is that i used the hat to hide some of the seams on the mask as well as ive been texturing it with the hat on (shadows and dirt etc)

 

anything to add/disagree with? should the entire suit just be one piece?

That sounds fine. As you know I'm sure, FO3 supports separate face and head gear, but most mods treat masks and headgear as one piece. So as you say, have two apparel items:

"Plague Doctor Robe"

"Plague Doctor Mask & Hat" (or just name it "Plague Doctor Mask")

 

You could have separate object effects for each (I don't think it's simple to have multiple items required for effects) - for example, a MED bonus on the robe, and an additional MED or a Rad/Poison resistance bonus on the mask.

 

And you can have the separate "Plague Doctor Hat" for additional uses. Of course, the names and object effects can be changed by whoever incorporates this into a mod.

 

It would be nice to have the mask and hat as separate items, but not essential - if you ever redo the model/texturing maybe that could be an update.

ok ive got the outfit in game. its not completely finished, but its almost there

doh! i forgot to bring the one of him swinging his stick to work with me.

 

a few new small problems have cropped up, two of which are shown in this screen:

 

1-even though i didnt touch the main mesh whatsoever, after i remove the belt from the

scribe outfit and export it, gaps start to show under the armpits, when a rifle is raised, where the two meshes meet (the arms and the torso) possibly this is due to the way the deform system works and now that there are less verts the average is changed etc. ill look into it.

 

2-when i equip the suit on my female character it works proper, but when i equip it on a downloaded save game of some dude-not-even-out-of-the-vault-yet, the left hand glove does not get replaced by the plague doctor glove like it should. im really not sure yet why.

also not shown here, there is a wee bit of clipping with the scribes collar poking through the neck of that mask in certain poses, so ill try to take care of that too. but if you guys would like to start on the quest etc. i shouldnt be tooooo much longer
