Azelka
I'm trying to start making a HUD/UI modification for New Vegas, but I'm not sure where the files containing the HUD/UI so I can edit it is. Could someone tell me it's location?
Jojash
The files are stored in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\Data\menus". I should say though, if you're unfamiliar with the XML used with the Fallout and Oblivion series, there are pretty much no tutorials for it and the only real way to learn it is to go by observation. I'd recommend taking a look at this mod as it's pretty good to learn from. Good luck! Edited September 30, 2013 by Jojash

jazzisparis
That's a little vague. Which part(s) of the HUD, and what do you intend to modify in them? All the UI of the game is programmed in XML spreadsheets that are packed in Fallout - Misc.bsaThe image components are packed in Fallout - Textures.bsa and Fallout - Textures2.bsa

jazzisparis
All of it.That's quite an undertaking. Use BSA Browser (a tool included in FOMM) and extract the files you want to modify. Each file's name indicates which part of the UI it controls.

Jojash
Might I ask, when you say you want to edit it all of it do you mean that you want to change how the HUD works, possibly add some new elements, and so on, or are you just looking to change the icons that appear in-game already? If you are, do you just want to change how they look, or what they do? If you're just trying to change how they look you ought to look at the textures, rather than the XML files. If you want to change how they work though, just ignore this post, since you're already looking at the correct files for that. :)
