Can't load mods in xp64

Hi figures my first post is a frustration call. I'm helping a friend put some mods on his PC (xp pro x64 SP1, which are all 3 or fewer letter words so I can't actually use a search, aaaaarrrrggggghhhh) and failing miserably. My PC with Vista SP1 is running both the exact same mods (GriffonFortress and Bruma Hunting Lodge) without a hitch. I've been working with this for two days and I'm at the end of my rope. Sledge hammer good......

Can you install any mods?

What is your archive extraction method?

Are you installed to the default installation location?

'Fraid not. It sees them in the loader when I start it up, I tick the boxes, but they aren't there when I enter the game. We started a new game entirely to see if it wouldn't see them that way, it didn't work. We even tried unticking the boxes, restarting the game, exiting, and reticking them. It's like the data files are not being read or recognised. I thought it might be corrupt .esp files, so I installed them on my PC. They worked fine there.

I'm using 7zip. They don't seem to come with OBMM files, at least OBMM won't see them. So I install them manually, I'm more comfortable doing it that way anyway. Old DOS habits die hard. I put the .esp files in the /Data directory and the others in the designated directories.

We started by putting Oblivion in his games directory in J: but uninstalled it and default installed it. It didn't help. We also dumped x64 and put in standard xp 32-bit, but that didn't help either, same problem.

You need to save the files to a known location and then extract them and follow the installation instructions. They won't show up in the archives, you need to extract them and inst5all them.
