Alithinos
i'm glad it is solved.but there is another thing that also slows performance sometimes. If you set more antialiasing and/or anisotropic filtering, the game runs slower.Again if you change the settings of your graphics card from optimal performance to optimal quality, the game will be slower. Qwaxalot
Wow thanks for all the responses, guys, but I think I may have solved the issue. I defragged my PC lastnight and then shut it off for a few hours and I played Oblivion earlier for over an hour with no problems. I'll post back if I experience any more problems. On a side note: My PC is making this strange, grinding noise, like one of the fans is messing up. It's coming from around my DVD drive, but I haven't opened my PC yet to see. I'm glad you're making progress. I usually tell people to defrag, however that's more in response to cell change lags, and/or, weird CTD. As far as the grinding noise is concerned, I'd get right after that. Grinding=BAD :ermm:
bben46
A grinding can be a dying hard drive. I recommend backing up anything important on the hard drive as soon as possible. Or it could be a fan - again, clean it out if you haven't already.
Luscilla
Well now the grinding has stopped and I have not experienced any more crashes or lagging in 8 hours of playing. For some odd reason Oblivion has become unusually stable lately, lol. I haven't had a CTD in days or any glitches and defragging my HD the other night helped with the lag issues. I'm sorry I wasted everybody's time, lol.
