RaidenHF
Hello everyone! I need help with random freezing in SSE (version 1.5.97). I've worked really hard to make my huge load order stable, like, having no random CTDs at all. If it happens to have one, I'll go straight into my NetScript logs to find the culprit or, in very rare occasions, start removing 5 by 5 of the recent mods to find the problem. I do my patches here and there, some safe changes in xEdit and even look at by Papyrus logs to look for stacking scripts that can have a heavy impact in my game (causing stutters or slowing script reactions). I know I'm asking for the impossible here because it can be anything, as I have more than 300h of gameplay with more than 1000 mods (I'm always adding some more as the modding scene evolves). These freezings can happen after 3h of gameplay, sometimes after 30min. They occur with more frequency in Tamriel worldspace, almost in any fight (it's more rare in other mods worldspaces). Skyrim Performance Monitor doesn't show any sign of RAM or VRAM exploding. Anyway, here goes a link to my LO and my specs below: https://pastebin.com/mWNpJJXb GeForce GTX 1660 Ti - 6GB OC EditionAMD Ryzen 5 1600X 16GB RAM - 3000mhz
7531Leonidas
Search out 'reference handles limit' for Skyrim SE, you can find an xEdit script to see if you are over the limit, and possible solutions. I linked it on another post recently. Found it - (https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/ag4wm7/psa_the_reference_handle_cap_or_diagnosing_one_of/?ref_source=embed&ref=share) Maybe this will help. Also found this thread on LL - it references problems w/inactive esps in Mod Organizer, from merged mods. RaidenHF
Thanks a lot for replying!! Regarding the ref count, I've did it before with some mods (some of them already had ESM patches, like Skyrim Underground), and my total is still far from the approximate 900k (I have 500k of temporary refs and 200k of permanent refs). As for the second, I'll start hiding the unused ESPs and see if it changes the game stability. Anyway, thanks again for the help!
RaidenHF
Just updating, hiding the inactive ESPs, didn't work. Any ideas?
7531Leonidas
Only one last idea, have you cleaned your game master files? I used to, but reverted after a quest-killing bug in Dragonborn was caused by the cleaned file. As a side effect, I seem to have fewer ctd and freeze events after verifying my game files in Steam, thus restoring the original, dirty file versions. I am still on 1.597, and did it well before the AE changes.
