Ranokoa
http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...uring_Made_Easy Ok so i got the texture replacer, i got the BSA commander, i have gimp 2.0 with both plugins for dds and normal map and i even unpacked the specific nif file for the twosisters lodge it asks for in a new folder. But right after it says '' 3. Open the NIF file with TR(You should get TR now, if you haven't already.) Either use "open with" in the context menu, or start TR and browse for your NIF file. In the context menu's "open with" dialogue you can also set TR to be the program that is used to open NIF files when you doubleclick them. [edit] 4. Now TR scans the model for textures and displays them'' it goes to this instruction [edit] 5. Search for those textures and look at them to find out which one to modifyOpen the folder where you've extracted the original textures to, and have a look at the textures that are used by the model, most objects use only one texture, but this one uses 3 of them. WTF DOES IT MEAN? I have no clue and no matter what i try i cant work it or figure it out. It doesn't make sense. SEARCH IT WITH WHAT? OPEN IT WITH WHAT? WTF DO I DO!!!!! Completely stuck and i have no clue because it does not tell.. Can someone help?
Vagrant0
That tutorial was made before Nifscope was as versatile and easy to use as it currently is. TR tool was a way to see what textures were being used by a model so that you knew what to use as a base for a retexture, and allowed you to change the texture paths within a nif. It's still useful for things like signs, which can become broken if sanitized within nifscope. You will however still need a means of extracting the actual textures from the .bsa archives. And you will still need a program than can handle working with DDS textures, like Gimp or Photoshop. Both these points were covered before step 1. Having is also suggested, but you might need to do some other tutorial to become familiar with that.
Ranokoa
Umm.. Not really what i meant. It's not what to programs needed or anything its more as in the tutorial it just skips from WHAT program to open with and how to just saying to open and or search. I am asking WHAT i do next. Like read where i left off as i said, and tell me the very next step between the two im having conflicts with. Or if you can get me to another tutorial thats easier to understand or whatever that uses nifskope as you said.
Vagrant0
I had sworn that Lhammonds had made a retexturing tutorial that was a bit better, but could not find one that actually seemed to mention how to do any of the changes in nifscope. Maybe this one might be of help:http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...pe_and_the_GIMP But going from the tutorial you were following, basically, the textures it lists in TR need to be extracted from the BSA's. These textures can then be opened within a graphics program, and used either as a guide for how to lay out a new texture, or altered. Once you have the texture you want to use made, you then use TR, or nifscope to make the .nif look to your files in the data folder to get its textures. You will need to share these new textures, located in a sub folder of the data folder with your mod (along with the .nif). The files which you extracted from the bsa archives and the project folder can be discarded, or retained (for making corrections) as needed. What is important is that the files being linked to in the .nif are located in the data folder, and that the files in your data folder are being linked to in the .nif. You might understand the process a bit better just by taking an existing nif, and assigning some other texture, from your data folder (possibly one that is part of a mod you downloaded), to this nif, without regard to how that texture might look on that model. The difference between nifscope and TR is that nifscope will allow you to browse for the file, while TR makes you type it. TR is a bit less daunting for those inexperienced since it is only concerned with replacing the entries related to textures, while nifscope is suited to a good deal of other .nif editing. dezdimona
you can try playing around this way till you gain a little experience..if you want . Adding clothing and armors pieces to make new ones Open a mesh in NifSkope Open a second Mesh if NifSkope keeping the first mesh open also. Remove unwanted items from first mesh, just right click on the part you don’t want, then go to block, click remove branch Now, left click on the item that you want to move from mesh 2 to mesh 1 At the left, you’ll see a Nitri shape highlighted in blue Right click on the highlighted wording, then go to block, select, copy branch. Now go to mesh 1, look at top of column with listings for the mesh. You should see a zero, followed by Main Ninode, followed by “scene root” Right click on “main Ninode, select block, paste branch. Item should appear properly located in mesh 1 with no errors. These steps are very important!!!!!!!Click spells, optimize, remove bogus nodesClick spells, optimize, strippify all TriShapesClick spells, move to batch, Update tangent spaces, and save. Ranokoa
Thanks, this helps infinetely. Really the only problem i was having was after i opened up the BSA, copied the nif i wanted, i couldn't figure out how to open it to retexture it with Gimp 2.0, i downloaded the DDS and Normal Map Surface patches to Gimp but it just didnt want to open. Im still uncertain about how to do this, however, i have yet to look at the new tutorial. Thanks for the help, if i run into a snag again ill mention it but as of now it seems you two, expecially vagrant0, have helped solve my problem and warn me of an outdated way of doing things. ~Ranokoa
