Having problems

Hey, this being my first time, ill get onto it.

Ok, I shuld start off by saying that this is my first time trying to mod Oblivion or any other game and so im having a bit of trouble.

I have downloaded several mods from the site that are in the top 100, I have also downloaded the oblivion mod manager featured there, however, I cant seem to find the files I downloaded in the Manager and when I browse for them I cant find them either where I saved them, I have checked the Data Files of the game and they only have the mods I got thru the elder scrolls site (battlehorn Castle etc.)

Can anyone help me get the downloads I have from this site onto the game?

P.S I have not got anything extra aswell as the Mod Manager and every time I simply try to open the mod files it tells me that I need to find the program to open it with, dont know if thats important.

Thanks.

Ok Ive been doing a bit of searching round the forums and I found bbens help guide, very helpful ben, btw.

I have managed to install bens example file of the iron dagger, however, when I tried to do the same thing on one of my downloaded files, the file didnt appear in the data files and so I cant 'check' it.

the file name is AkaviriSamuraiShopV04-22907.7z and as the name suggests, is the Akaviri shop mod.

P.s all ive done is downloaded that mod and then tried to extract (didnt work) then added to Program files/Besthesda Softworks/Oblivion/data.

do not unzip the DL

ok,click create omod, add the mod name and author where indicated.

then click add archive, the mod will then be broken down automatically. When its ready you'll see some writing in the big box under file path

Then click create omod, answer yes and omod will be created.

you'll get a green square in your mod list, click on it and then click activate!

all done! mod is now active

all files even if it has no esp will be put where they belong

Have a little patience, I'm not on line all the time. I check the forum several times a day though. I will look into that mod and see if there is something I can do.

7z is a z-zip compressed file and before installing in the data folder it needs to be uncompressed. If you don't have 7-zip, it is FREE to use and available on the Tesnexus

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15579

Be sure to read the instructions on how to install it as it is not a mod.

My instructions on using 7-zip are located here:

And further instructions on associating file types here:
