bben46
I see people give the advice of creating a "c/games" file. That doesn't work, not on windows 7 at least. Skse and the basic skyrim launcher always look for related files in the program(86) folder and refuse to access them anywhere else. Try uninstalling Nmm and reinstalling with the managers default settings and see if that does itWRONG! just because you cannot get something to work does not mean everyone else has the same problem. Mine is on E:\Games\Steam\Steamapps\common\Skyrim. And, I am Currently running Win7 x64 - I have also used WinXP 32 bit and Vista with no problems. It will also work in the default locations as well, but there you run into hassles with the Windows UAC protection. Many people have their Legal Steam Skyrim in this (or some other location) - that's why it is seen so often. Your error is probably assuming that you have to allow Steam to install to its default location. Steam can be installed just about anywhere and on other drives as well. Steam has simple instructions for moving your entire steam folder to another location, or even another drive without having to reinstall anything. Link to instructions from steam. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?p_faqid=231 I have installed all of my games to E:\Games. If it is a steam game, the entire steam must be installed there. This is not a problem with any version of Windows - XP, Vista or Win7 - or 32/64 bit. It does work. And SKSE Can find it as long as you follow the instructions provided with SKSE - it does work for everyone else. NMM, Wrye bash and every other utility program I use works fine with this also (OBSE, NVSE, FOSE Tesedit, all of the Construction sets and many others) However, if you have a pirated version, all bets are off as who knows what the pirate did to get his stolen copy to work in the first place - what he added or what he removed will vary by version - and often the version number the pirate uses does not match either - So, the pirate versions DO NOT work 'just like' a legitimate version. No matter what the pirate claims. There is nothing I hate more than to waste my time trying to help someone with a problem then discovering they are using a pirate version that is causing their problem.
