Moraelin
Probably not the first topic on that subject, but here goes my list of signs you've been playing with mods too much. Feel free to add your own. 1. You've come to instinctively spot pencils for Willow (or magazines for Wendy Gilbert, or whatever apropriate for other mods) faster and better than you spot stimpacks. 2. You've instinctively pocketed a pencil at work, before realizing you can't give it to Willow. 3. You run into some of the many threads like "what is the best vanilla weapon?" and you're drawing blanks as to what ANY vanilla weapon actually does in a fight, because you've never used any of them. (Except maybe the varmint gun you had to use in the tutorial.) Bonus points if you're also struggling to remember what they even look like. 4. You see a screenshot of an unmodded vanilla companion (say, Boone or Veronica) and your first thought is "who's that guy?" because the last time you saw their vanilla face was years ago, for like 5 minutes, before downloading a mod to make them look better. Bonus points if you don't really remember much else about them either ("wait, Veronica was BOS?") because it was getting too crowded with all your modded companions to take a vanilla one along too. 5. You see a screenshot from some standard town or place in their vanilla state and your first thought is "is that a new town? what mod is that from?" or at the very least "didn't Goodsprings have a well in front of the pub?" 6. Your decision to save Goodsprings has nothing to do with morals or role-playing, but it's more like because every other lazy modder out there made their stuff available only from Chet or Doc Mitchell or other GS residents. (Hey, I'm guilty of that too, so I can make fun of it.) 7. The first hours of a new game have nothing to do with following the story or side quests, and are more along the lines of 'pick up sister Jane, go into Prim just far enough to get the ghost suit, leave and run around all the way to Vegas to get my favourite modded gun from Mick And Ralph and the modded dresses from the casino, then go back pick Wendy, then you have enough firepower to get Willow's doll..." 8. Wait, you mean the game ISN'T turn based? 9. You back up your game directory, not just the saves, because just reinstalling all those 20GB of mods after a hard drive problem would take two hours, even without re-downloading them. 10. You bought the English version of the game although you already owned the <insert national language> version, just because the mods' speech in English was looking out of place in it, or some mod needed the English version to run at all. (I'm looking at the defunct RFCW...) Feel free to add your own.
