There are several 'mod downloading and installing' instructions available. Some are in the form of tutorials and some are more in the form of advice.

I don't know if you have seen my help files or not. They are geared for the beginning mod user and I have tried to keep them as free of computer jargon as I can. Where I can't I have included a geek to English dictionary to help.

They are located here: http://s1.zetaboards.com/TheStormRavenLibrary/forum/256092/

Usually when I see your problem it is because the mods you download are not ready to be used in their downloaded form. They must be uncompressed first (unzipped). Instructions for this are included in my help files.

If you don't find what you are looking for there, please come back and let us know.

The only mods that will show up in the data menu are those with an esp or esm. Some mods only change textures or meshes and will automatically be there - whether you want them or not.

Much better than the game data menu is OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager) it has much better tools for managing your mods than the default game data menu. It also allows you to see and change the load order among other things.

When you make a mod into a OMOD, and enable the OMOD, it will create an esp as needed in your data folder. If you disable the OMOD, it removes the esp - and all related textures and meshes.

When you do not use the OMOD conversion, the mod needs to be unzipped directly into the data folder. Usually it will place the texture and Mesh files in the proper subfolders, but not always. If it doesn't you may have to place them manually.

The esp will appear in the left frame of the OBMM screen and they must be activated by clicking on the box beside them. If you disable an esp, it does not remove the texture and mes files, they are still there and might be used by the game even if their esp is no longer in use.
