Iv come across a problem trying to retexture a centaur..for some reason when i tick the custom nif in the preview window under the Modlelist nothings there..here's what im doing..

1) grab my texture and retexture the dds in gimp..save to my mod's textures folder..

2) open the centaur nif in nifskope and adjust the texture paths..save as a new Nif to the meshes >Creatures >Centuar folder..

3 ) open in geck Creatures >Modlelist and go to tick my Nif file..and the preview window is empty..i can see the plane..but its like the nif is invisable..

Now iv been able to do it before, and i can't understand what i could be doing different in order for it not to show up. Iv tried selecting different Shader flags..double and triple checking my path files to no avail..Im sure it's something small, but i just cant seem to figure it out. and the tutorials and threads iv read arn't very detailed enough to help me out. Now, as i try multiple nifs in the centuar folder, (trying to get one to work), i get an "!" box..it says.. "model list updated".. "files have been removed from this model list, Please save and check in"...i know that's from me deleting the failed nifs...but i don't understand the "save and check in" bit. I'v tried deleting and making a new Creature Id, to maybe reset something, you know try to start clean..no dice..

Im having a similar problem making a custom creature..

I used the 2nd part of this tutorial:... http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Rigging_skinning_and_dismemberment

except i didn't do the dismemberment pieces, I was gonna go back an do those if it worked out..

got the skeleton parented to the mesh...went into pose mode...checked it out to make sure everything was working as it should.. everything cool...exported. Opened in nifskope adjusted texture paths...Saved it to the Meshes >Creatures >failedfevsubject...(cause that's what i was working with..and yeah i know there's resources but im tiring to learn to make my own)..opened it in the geck... tick my new Nif file and in the preview window the mesh was all jacked up..not like a shader flag jacked up, where its all pointy and crazy..but it was bent over at the waist and rotated... then when i tried to leave that tab the geck crashed on me..

so those are my 2 main problems.. Im hoping against hope some of you modeling pros have the answer for me or at least can point me towards the light...
