Izzydude
Ok lets get the ball rolling. 3 problems 1. In my town I set a door up in the center of my town purely for testing purposes. Now when I have moved the door it still is in the center in-game. How do I fix this? 2. I have used the space where Hawkhaven was and Denyiir stays there. He isn't in the cell in TESCS but hes there in-game. How do I fix this? 3. How do you actually produce an esp file? Is there a button or what? (Note: Using TESCS) PS: If the topic gets crowded with multiple questions exchange emails to fix it.
bben46
In your effort to simplify, you have actually made things more complicated for the new people. While it seems intuitive to put all questions of a certain type in the same topic It really doesn't work very well in practice. If they all post in your topic, their questions will be intermingled with answers for one question being mistaken for another - I have seen this happen when someone asks a new question in the middle of a thread. Suddenly you have people answering multiple questions in the same thread - It gets confusing quickly. Then after about 6 unrelated questions, you will have 7 or 8 pages to wallow through to find the pieces of one problem and associate with the original question. Instead, each member should make their own topic for their question, where it will be isolated and easy to follow the answers, especially if the thread goes on for several pages. The answers to many questions can already be found in the articles section, or by using the search function to search the forum for other posts with the same problem.
KottonKing
Bben is right the only way to have a place for all "newbie" questions, you would need a forum section e.g. Mod troubleshooting, File Requests/Suggestions or Mod Uploads, etc... That's how you keep each question/post separate and chaos free.
Izzydude
Yeah I was thinking that might happen but I wanted to have less topics totally devoted to newbie questions. You could also just put @(Name of who your talkking too) before your message. Oh well any one going to answer my questions?

(Note: Using TESCS) PS: If the topic gets crowded with multiple questions exchange emails to fix it. A simple answer to all three questions, starting with number 3. Question 1&2 are related. If you don't already know how to create a new esp file then you've been altering the Oblivion ESM and saved the changes. Big disaster! Never save changes to the Oblivion ESM if you have no esp active, which is what you've done since the door appears in game. The space where Hawkhaven was.... That is a testing area you should not be altering without having an esp to save changes to because it sounds like you've permanently altered an essential part of the Oblivion ESM. If this is what you've done along with any other changes you've made, a reinstall of the game is in your immediate future. There are tools to fix mistakes like this, but if you can't create a new esp, you need to learn a lot of basics first and it sounds like you've made a lot of changes. To create an esp file go to the File Menu at the top of the CS window and select to save. Give it a name and you have your new esp. When you next load the CS make it active and save the changes to it ONLY. Even if it's only for testing purposes. You can discard it if you don't want to keep it and make a new one. Izzydude
I'm not that dumb. My Oblivion.esm is untouched(ish) . I have been creating esp files but they dont show up in windows explorer. Only when I am loading Oblivion and when loading TESCS can I see my esp's. Still doesn't explain about the door and denyiir but I think that has something to do with my save am I right? (As though Denyiir and the door are part of my save file now). Qwaxalot
Grr >:( I grr at you Vista. :wallbash: OK, I gather from this and your other posts, that you have it all figured out. By the way, and for whatever it's worth, as long as your hardware is adequate, and you understand the operating system, Vista is faster, safer and more stable than Windows XP, and WIN7 is shaping up to be even better (Preserve me from the wrath of die hard XP users) :verymad:
Izzydude
Ok im back again. After the last reply I done a reinstall into my users directory but now my mods I have downloaded don't work. The mods I made are fine and they all show up in the data files selection screen but the partners for the mod aren't there. IS it somethign to do with me saving again? (Like maybe I saved while the mods were off and now the save says that there are no people there so they are deleted/invisible?)
