Mods not loading

Alright, got everything reinstalled, and it still isn't working.

I moved the Data Folder (from the maid mod) into the folder with Oblivion. It asked me if I wanted to merge the folders. I said yes. I checked OBMM, made sure Exnem and the Maid Mod were activated, then went to Oblivion's Launcher. Exnem was absent, of course, and the maid mod was checked. I load my save, and still no chest. I didn't skip any steps, either.

Are you loading a save that has you in the same place as the chest ?

If so then try leaving the market area and then return. Sometimes new mods

do not load with an old save if you are in the same cell as the mod item.

I tried leaving and reentering (in fact, I went all the way to Anvil and back to the Market District), and still no luck.

EDIT: Decided to download this mod. The chest is NOT outside the Best Defense.

It is in the middle of the columned area outside the Gilded Carafe. The chest is all on it's own and easy to spot.

If you don't see it here then read on. This mod has it's own folders and should be easy to install.

Do you still have only one save game ? If so make a new one in a different area

after the mod is activated, and try again. If this does not work then read on....

You have said yourself that you have never done mods right.

Why is that ? It is not difficult, but needs to be done "by the numbers".

Don't rush it, and don't assume you did everything correctly you have to

check all the folders that the mod uses.

If you have unpacked the mod again look through all the folders.

Then reference this with the folders in your Oblivion folders. If you have misplaced

any folders/files you will soon find out. If the Oblivion folders do not correspond with the

mods folders then you have found your problem.

If a file(s) is not in the correct folder it is best to find it and not just put a new one in the

correct place. You don't need random files cluttering up you Oblivion folders.

Windows search may help you find where the file/folder has hidden itself.

Follow the advice the other posters have given. Step by step.
