Do you have a Phobia?

Some people have a phobia or an extreme aversion to something. Do you have any Phobias, if so what are they and how do they make you feel?

I have a phobia called Vertigo, it means I have a fear of heights. One day I'd like to conquer it by doing an indoor climbing course or something.

A friend cleared up what vertigo is and the different names for the phobia.

The fear of heights could be called one of these-Acrophobia, Altophobia, Batophobia, Hypsiphobia or Hyposophobia. Vertigo is a specific type of dizziness, a major symptom of a balance disorder. It is the sensation of spinning or swaying while the body is actually stationary with respect to the surroundings.

Thanks Bijak Satu.

I have an inordinate fear of borrowing anything, particularly money. (I've searched, and I don't think my particular fear has a defined name, yet). It's hampered me to some extent in my life... I don't have a bad credit-rating, instead I have no credit-rating, which is going to make it difficult for me to buy a house someday.

Oddly, I don't feel any apprehension about borrowing money for a house, but I'd still sooner starve than borrow $10 from even my family or best friends for a meal... it's weird.

I'm also afraid of hights. I can't even climb onto a chair and have a look down, or my knees will shiver like hell... ^^"

I've been to Switzerland and I went up a MOUNTAIN and looked down over some cities and lakes, I even had my lunch on top of that mountain next to the fence before the abyss. xD Butt hell was I glad to be down on earth again!

And then... I can't stand narrow rooms or crowds of people. I always fear that they'll squeeze me to death... I become really unbearable if I come into the wrong situation, panicking and even crying if it gets too much. I can't hold it so well... guess that's my own little devil I have to live with.

Otherwise it could be worse, really.

Well I couldn't find a latin word for borrow or loan but it looks like debt comes direcly from the word debitum.

So if your fear is actually of being in debt to anyone, which is kind of what it sounds like, I would venture a guess that it would be "debitumphobia". TADAAAA.

My own fear would probably be heights also. though I am quite fine up to probably 50 feet or so.

It's a very reasonable fear stemming from my understanding of how much it's going to hurt if I fall.

I do have another fear that may or may not be reasonable.

Fear of wrongful incarceration.

Accused and convicted of a crime I did not commit.

I don't know why.

Maybe something from a past life.

Or perhaps it's from the fact that once a cop suspects you of a crime, they tend to BELIEVE you did it and will focus solely on you.

I did get pulled over once by 5 cops from 3 different jurisdictions. My vehicle matched the discription of a prowler's.

they had guns pulled and had me play that funny game of twister while getting out of my truck and everything.

Have you ever tried to go from your knees to your stomach, with your hands behind your head, while facing downhill?

It's not easy.

They eventually let me go but there was this one cop standing behind all the others that was literally bouncing up and down (way too much cafeinne) saying, "this is the guy. we got him." repeatedly.

THAT guy scared the hell out of me. I was glad there were so many cops. I would NEVER want to be alone with that guy.

I am horrified of heights, they had to drug me to get me on a plain, you know that i don't care drug, i can't remember the name of it.

It was my decision to take the drug, we were flying across to the states to go on a cruise for 10 days, and i was kind of excited about it but had second thoughts about flying lol.

I'm scared of the open water and of its carnivorous contents. Seriously even looking at a fish with teeth scares the hell out of me.

M problem is so far reaching as I won't go into the water in oblivion for fear of the slaughter-fish, I won't go into the water for anything, if its quest related, I won't do the quest.

Gosh... you're serious? xD

I mean 'con, I wouldn't swim at a beach where they warn you because of shark attacks, but in a GAME? That's strange... Hell it's just a game...

I mean... I do play Silent Hill, being in a scenario like this IRL would result in me comitting suicide really, but in a game weeell... A little scary that's all. ^^
