Project G.E.N.E is a new mod that ive just started to make, it is a horror mod along the lines of something like alien set in an abbandoned base where the player and possibly some npc's have to escape and some npc's get killed along the way and i would like to know what the fallout community would like. I have to admit i am not so much of an experienced modder since oblivion is more my field of modding but im able enough to cope with this kind of mod.

Horror styled espace from abondoned base? Well, you could start with easiest way, which usually happens in every horror movie or game; as explorer that player is, he opens the door and enters in the base, as he contimues walking, the door behind him gets locked. Or maybe the first room gets filled by a gas, and later player finds himself in somewhere deep in the base, leaving only one option: escape.

 

About the plot: give some mystery to the player, but don't give him all at once, slowly build some suspension of the mystery, the reason why there are so many puzzles in good horror games is really simple - because waiting something to happen is scarier than the action itself. Silence and dark rooms are good way to build some effective atmosphere.

 

What happened in base? Did something wiped out the people?

 

One intresting scenerario that could be build upon supernatural theme is that what if the enemy you are against cannot be killed, so that your only choice is escape, and maybe try to find something in the base reveals the weakness of the creature you are against. Howerer it doens't really work in Fallout 3 I think, it would need some heavy scripting, because AI is really stupid.

the acronym stands for Genetic Engineering of New Evolution as for the creature not being able to b killedit is quite simple as you can just have two creatures one the is highly resistant to damage and essential and the other one for when it is killed at or near the end that is not essential and not as damage resistant
