Sacreficium
In comparison to Oblivion or maybe even Morrowind... yes lets take Morrowind (some of you remember the single Pauldrons, one left one right... and the single boots or Gauntlets) FA3 and FA:NV suck big time don't you think? i mean what chance is there that in a postapokalyptic world where everithing is so Spare and Rare i always find complete Armors/outfits?! wouldn't it be great if you had to collect everything you find to make your armor the best, but using every part you find? so take any forsaken place as an example, lets say a police station... You open up a locker and find one single Boot that someone left there... you grab it because it looks somewhat more protektive than your sneaker you have from goodsprings. You look further into the station and find one leather part that looks really sturdy, you grab it and with a stapler and one pair of scissors you make the piece of leather morph into a simple but still protective bandage for your forearm...(Maybe taking advantage of that survival skills and perks of yours) So as i think you get where this is going... I Talk Modular clothing... bits and pieces and craftable little helpers to survive longer in the wastes..Shirts, boots, trousers, gloves, pauldrons all that good stuff.Maybe even belts or bags that increase your Wheight limit a little This has two major Pros... -IMMERSION (And variation, too)-An oportunity to use all that Junk you see lying aroundAnd so on... (to be honest i cant think of any more than Immersion right now, so sorry) The cons are of course-Lots of creating and conversion-Much spend time But anyhow please let me know what you think of this and of course correct me if such an mod is already avaiable... and i do not mean that maiden thingy which is pretty cool in individualisation but not of so much use. And of course if anyone is inspired by my (not really) enthusiastic talk and willing to do the mod...i thank you in the name of all that is immersive and god damn awesome :) Sac'
DogtoothCG
The biggest problem with this idea is clipping. The variation of size and shape of apparel in the game will lead ultimately to major clipping with most armors. The Ranger armor for example. Wearing the pants, coupled with most footwear in game, will cause the players boots to stick out around the calf area. Therefore, major concessions would have to be made to prevent clipping, but this would introduce new problems. Altering all the pants in the game to tuck into boots, would cause an odd appearance if worn with sneakers.

Sacreficium
Yes thats nice but only a tiny bit of what i was thinking :) Yeah clipping sucks... maybe the trousers had all to be altered to be covering the boots and the boots made thinner to disappear beneath the trousers. what do you think? dangman4ever
Some trousers and boots would just look funky like that. Not to mention that would only work with the boots and not shoes, sandals, etc. In addition to the satchel mod ma1015 linked, there's also the Tailor Maid mod, Jonas66's boots mod, and the T3 Belts and Boots mod. Also, the Type 3M outfit mod actually includes .nif models of various outfit parts like skirts, jackets, bags, pouches, scarves, shoes, etc that someone could use to mix and match outfits similar to the Tailor Maid mod. Sacreficium
Well then the groundstone basically is layed down we just need to go the green mile (huh huh... not funny) hmmm i thought about the trousers/boots/shoes problem and what if the trousers were short... lets say they ended just underneath the knee, and the rest down the leg was an armor addon thar can be overwritten by the boots or left untouched when worn with shoes? Well in the beginning clipping would be unevitable (is it written like that? im not a native-speaker sorry... im a kraut) but could you please give an opinion on my idea? is it immersive and beneficial or just a waste of time and effort for something only i am very interested in? And for funkyness of different footwear and clothing, all thrown together... in my opinion its more important in a postapokalyptiv world to wear protektive stuff than looking like a supermodel :D Edit: @necronom12 yes it would look odd to have all the pants suddently be tight around the feet... but i think it would be okay if they were taped together or banded... because if you step in a puddle of radioactive mud you dont want that stuff to go all the way up your leg :P
nivea
Oh sure it is immersive and would be kind of beneficial, BUT It would be a TON of work and it would have a TON of clipping no matter what you did to alot of the items. You should keep in mind that some of the pant meshes are not even fully there, parts of the meshes have been cut off to fit under boots or even tops. You would end up with alot of issues and then what slots would you put the tops, pants and new boots, you can not use the upperbody slot like it is now because that removes the bottom and feet of the mesh. I could do it I could break it down and make them all separates, it would be perfectly doable. BUT it would NOT be a seamless mod and it would take a HUGE amount of time, many months getting everything fitting with everything else. And for what? People would just complain about the clipping or the fact that their favorite body isnt supported. Its not worth it in my mind.

nivea
More then likely FO4 will use the same kind of thing as FNV/FO3 or Skyrim, where again pants and tops are connected the only different is boots and gloves are not.
