Ukraineboy
God! I have had this game for like, 2 weeks now and I cannot stop flip flopping! my highest character is only LEVEL 5!!! and he is a dark elf knight. My other highest character is my woodelf archer at level 4, my Barbarian at level 2 and my thief at level 2. I have tried TWICE to be a Mage and a Sorceror, but each time I feel its... not the character for me. I just cant stand the switching from weapons to magic thing, its soooo annoying to switch, especially when you are getting smacked around and you cant switch. now, I am bored AGAIN of my Dark elf Knight, thats at level 5. I dont know why, I just am. whats a good new character to try? I might try Spellsword or Battlemage or Sorceror(again) but I dont know how I should.. you know, start off. anyone have any good tips for me? I just cant seem to do good with magic guys. Hey wait, is there a mod that allows you to cast spells with a sword/shield out? if so, that would be great for me. I cant stand having to switch and freaking getting the life smacked out of me while doing it. Also, ok so Im going to try and put this down: Mage: overall magician, mostly things that go boom, liek fireballs or whateverSorceror: Necromancer? summons guys to do the fightingBattlemage: I guess a knight that uses fireballs and stuff but what is a Spellsword do? and what is a Witchunter do? any help would be great. DreamOfTheRood
I've found that the best characters are the ones that rely not so much on what weapons you favor but what kind of character development you create for the guy in your imagination. For instance, my current character uses only minimal magic such as scrolls and teleports, and he refuses to do business with wood elves, due to their tenacious habits of being awful. It's simple things like that which will really bring your character to fruition. As far as stats go, I'm a warrior kind of guy. Mages and archers are just ... not in-your-face enough for me. They do not please me, and I thus tend to stick with a standard axe and balls kind of character. However, it's really all up to your personal preference. The character creation for Morrowind is very complex, and you can come up with a huge variety of starting characters. However, they all kind of end up being the same anyway if you're not careful. Eiade
I believe that in Morrowind, the most enjoyable magic user is one that doesn't switch between magic and weapons during combat. I mean a mage that uses no combat-oriented magic. Magic gets most of its invalubleness out of its spells such as mark and recall, open, levitate, water walking, invisiblility, and the such. These are spells that prove invaluble as you progress through the game, and are used many times. In the time it takes to ready a destruction spell, you could've made three melee attacks on your enemy. Yes, mage-lovers, there are destruction spells that you can create that kill anything in one hit, but they are a serious drain on magicka. I say be a mage that has some sort of weapon and armor proficiency, and only uses the non-offensive and very applicable magicks. For me it really paid off. FlightlessBird
I like to think of Morrowind as a Monty Python movie. Inside it, some of the best stuff youve EVER seen is in there. But, to get to it, you need to go over some not so entertaining parts. What I'm saying is that you shouldnt just give up on a character right after youve lived through its starting glory. I've gone through your situation as well and What i did was said to myself no more characters for now. Keep going with one and dont stop. One wont go anywhere continualy moving on to new, level 1 characters. My advice: Switching sometimes is O.K. But, too much switching goes nowhere so try and work your way through the tough parts. Best if luck ;)

CLB1110
I had the same problem when I first got the game a few years back. The only thing that got me to stop was when I found a daedric battleaxe in the cave by the quarra clan headquaters (cant remember the name right now). Having that one cool looking waepon inspired me to keep playing and hopefully find something as cool, or even cooler than that daedric battleaxe.
