Can I modify an esp while running the game?

You can, theoretically:

 

In console, type fcf.

Then save changes to the plugin.

Finally, in console again, type hlp <pluginname>.

 

In practice, it's not very stable and often CTDs the game.

I would guess not...since to actually see any changes to the plugin it would have to be reloaded.

Also ive done this by accident and game crashed...but it depends on what youre editing ...

I always had this curiosity, but never the courage to actually try. I'm afraid to break my save or something else

So, can I save a modified esp on CK while running a game that have this esp loaded? I mean, for make testing of this esp easier.

The CK actually has a hot-load function which can load the esp/esm into your game, but I for one would never use this feature, since the creation engine itself is already so brittle that I doubt that it would be productive when we, the average joes, do it.

 

I would just recommend to use proper test cells and create useful batch files for things like quest testing or adding items to your character etc. .

Asking if they can modify an esp with game running... YES

Saving the esp while game is running...I would think it depends on what is being edited/changed. Am i wrong ?
