Fallout 3 Time to move on?

I dont know about anyone else but it feels like fallout really isnt that satisfying to play anymore, i mean yes, it provides i little replayability but after you've played the game through for the first time, it really does seem like a chore to play just for the mods.

 

I mean.. all the mods are great, yes, but they can only add so much. are they really worth the time we waste starting all those new games for?

I have to agree that FO3 as it is currently, lacks a lot of replay value, but I was kind of expecting it to happen aswell. Also the modding tools we currently have in our use aren't as refined as they are for Oblivion and there are still lots of obstacles that need to be overcome before the modding community can get to full speed. FO3 also currently lacks all large quest chain mods etc. which Oblivion has, but note that many of those projects that are now appearing in Oblivion are lengthy projects that have been in the building process for more than a year. The current situation with FO mods like that is where the dreamers are separated from the doers, which basically means the major projects are just starting out and people are still getting used to the tools.

I have just gotten this feeling rescently about Fallout. I bought it for Playstation last week and now I play it there more on PC sicne its more difficult in my opinion.

I also begin to find FO 3 alittle boring. I recently played though the game and now i just aint satisfied whit the game. I meen, yes its cool i can explore and all that but still.. I know it all. I know that my dad is doomed and i sure am if i just act like a good person. I cant even play on if i let the woman do it. If they made a update that made fallout for online in different servers and whit special PVP areas so you wont be in danger, can get help from high lvls and you can find enemies in the PVP areas. Also some special places like Instances. So ya can challange yourself whit a few friends and some RP areas like a clean vault or a nice city. Family mod would be great too.

I guess you guys went through every single side quest already..for a first run through that's pretty impressive.

 

I've had the game since january and it basically keeps me in the house all the time.. if i wasn't working i'd probally die playing this game.. there are SO MANY places to find,quest to run into,innocent wandering wastelanders to kill etc etc.. i just don't see how unless you've ran through it all,how anyone could get bored of this game.. it's a extremly huge well scripted sandbox of carnage.. even if you happened to finish everything, walking through the waste and ending up in random battles is enough to keep me happy. I have the pc and xbox version too. Only because you can't mod the xbox version.. If your into changing things up,turning the DC waste into your own pre war nation of baseball loving go-getters,or transforming it into a demon hell waste with loyal deathclaw armies patrolling the exterior of your overly large castle of doom,then maybe you should look into the GECK toolkit. :biggrin:

I've replayed the game a few times. Being bad. Being good. I had it for my PS3 first, then got it for my PC so I had to start over. Still not bored. Just finished Anchorage.

I haven't been able to make myself sick of this game and that's playing it since release constantly. It's simply the best sci-fi sandbox RPG out there, and the mods are just over the top. For even more fun I've been getting into machinima with all the excellent mods.

 

The scope and quality of the mods here is really mind-blowing, the greener wasteland especially. I'm not playing the same game anymore, I've created my own post-apocalyptic fun time sandbox where I can do pretty much whatever I want. You won't find that kind of fun on most games IMO.

 

I feel sorry for anyone playing this on a console, 'cause it must suck not being able to mod.

lol... are users which make such comments worth our time to create such mods? well thx god we give a damn and make em for ourselves or those that can appreciate them...

 

one thing tho:

if a game starts to get boring stop playing... do somin else, screw your wife, get drunk, *censored*, wahtever... once you feel the urge to play again do it...

i get that sentiment quite often and start to feel playing a game as pointless, take a break and maybe come back... and honestly sandbox games are the ones i get back to quite often... i dunno what the real problem is actually... a movie i can watch once, sometimes twice, a "normal" game i play for maybe 10h... fallout alone sucked me in for quite more than 100h with ease... and in regards to the price tag thats an ok trade off if you ask me

 

nevertheless i think its a good and natural reaction to find somin as utterly pointless as playing a game (well most of the time... i learned alot through games i must admit mainly in regards to language) boring...

 

sims was or still is the game which should imo create that reaction the fastest of all available games on the market... i mean cmon in falllout i still can rescue semi sexy chicks, kill badass monsters and do al kinds of funky stuff... in sims i go to take a piss or wash the dishes... :D
