Black Screen, Studder, Windows Error... :(

I've used my fair share of mods. So I decided to do an uninstall of Oblivion, remove what I could find and do a fresh install.

The install goes perfect, no errors or pop ups.

Now when I launch Oblivion the screen goes black, I hear the first note or two of the music, it studders for a couple seconds then I get a windows error.

Now, i've put 200+ hours of Oblivion over the last few months and I used to play when it first came out. (The mods helped the game big time). Now, I just lost on what could have caused the problem that I can't get the game to run any longer. I used to play on Ultra High settings with the 4096x4096 high rez textures, now I can't get the game to run.

Any ideas, clues, or tips?

Thanks

First, delete the Oblivion.ini file, located in ...documents\mygames\oblivion

Make sure you're fully patched

Restart the game, WITHOUT any Mods, Oblivion will redetect hardware

If no joy, verify that you COMPLETELY uninstalled Oblivion.

Here's a link to Bben46's Uninstallation/Installation guide

If none of that works, we'll have to start troubleshooting the hardware
