Deleted269910User
Just placing the .esp in the correct folder isn't enough, as you need to activate the mod aswell. That can be done through the launcher by going to the data files menu and placing the tick mark next to the mod. You could also use Oblivion Mod Manager or OBMM for short, as it also allows you to organize the load order for your mods.(It isn't necessarily as important when you're installing your first mods, but with larger mods it is vital to have the load order correctly.) You should also read through How To Install Plugins/mods, The official thread as it has lots of great pointers and good info to help you on installing your mods correctly. If you need more help, don't be afraid to ask. Also; Welcome to the nexus site! Follow the rules and enjoy your time here. ~Elraine
KronikHeeko
Thanks for that, really. Now i have 2 mods working but the one i really want wont appear in the Data files thing... idk if the file is corrupted or what im doing wrong the ReadMe states "extract both .esp files to the /data folder underneath your Oblivion directory. Start Oblivion, and in the launcher select "Data Files". Click the checkbox to the left of the two .Esp files you just extracted to enable them." I did that but nothing happens
Deleted269910User
Just gonna ask a few simple questions that can help me answer that and possible future questions that may arise in the topic; What's your current game version?(Patched or out-of-the-box? Direct-2-Drive version, which is already patched?) You can find the patches from here. Just make sure, if you need to patch your game, that you download the right patch for your region/version of the game. Also; Only download and use one of the 1.2.0416 patches, either for standard Oblivion, without the Shivering Isles, or with Shivering Isles, but not both. Secondly; What mods are you currently trying to install and what steps have you taken with them?(Post their current folder structures if you can.) Deleted269910User
Ok, then I'm fairly sure the problem is with the folder structure. Here's a quick explanation on correct file locations; When you've extracted the mod out of the archive, copy/paste the contents to your oblivion folder and check that your folder setup inside Oblivion\Data-folder is EXACTLY like I'm showing below this paragraph. When checking your folder setups, make sure it's 100% identical to what it was in the .rar/.7-zip/.ace file, while following the below mentioned format.(Eg. possible subfolders for textures etc. But under no circumstances should there ever be a duplicate of the parenting folder, eg. Data\Data, Textures\Textures, you catch the drift.): X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data --> All esps here.X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Textures --> Folders containing .dds and _n.dds files go here.X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Meshes --> Folders containing .nif files go here.X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Sound --> Folders containing any sound(.wav, .wma etc.) or .LIP files go here.X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Music --> Folders containing any music files go here.X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Video --> .bik files go here, these are pretty much the animations in the game.X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Shaders --> .FX files and .SDP(Session Description Protocol.) files go here. No mods should edit these.X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\DistantLOD --> .lod files go here. _________________________________________________________________X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\obse(Created by Oblivion Script Extender)X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Bash(Created by WryeBash)X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Bash Patches(Created by WryeBash)X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Docs(Created by WryeBash)X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\INI Tweaks(Can't remember.)X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\LSData(Can't remember.)X:\xxxx\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\menus(Any HUD/UI changing mods.) On a side note; You probably won't have most of these folders there during your first few mod installs, but it's good to know how the folder setups go and where all the files belong.
