sulleyjoseph
Like FNV with NVSE and downloadable patches for the GECK, should I download anything to make the experience with the Fallout 4 creation kit smoother? Or generally things I should have previously installed, like patches or bug fixes? Thanks.

84Cronos
This might be useful - https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/51165 Based on my testing, I would be careful with those fixes. I tried them and they lead to constant CK crashes. And it wasn't only me who got them. I saw some streamers using them and they got the same crashes as well. Only God knows what the reason for that might be, but you might have another experience. Just test it, save regularly and see what happens. In my setup even though it has some nice fixes and additions it is VERY unstable and crashing A LOT easier than the vanilla CK...(sometimes it would crash like 5-10 times in an hour..... I dont know what the "fixes" depends on as far as PC specs etc...go but for me its a no go. (btw im running a ryzen 1600(6 core 12 thread at factory clocks) and have 2X8 Gb @3200 ram on win 10..) and it still crashes ...
