Companions? Lost sound?

@ Lil Hagrid.

Experimentally, rename the oblivion.ini file located in ...\documents\mygames\oblivion folder.

Launch Oblivion, it will redetect hardware, make your video adjustments, then start a new game and save it. Then test your voice issues.

Also, when you installed Oblivion, did you install it to someplace other than the default location?

Or barring that do you have UAC (User Account Control) turned off.

Vista will prevent alterations to software installed in the default programs directory, using instead a virtual space, which WILL lead to MOD problems.

And as far as memory is concerned, the 32 bit versions of both XP & Vista can only use 3.2 gigabytes. It takes the 64 bit version to recognize anything over the 3.2GB limit.

And yes, Oblivion, to the best of my knowledge only use 2 GB of memory.

Hi ya

I just tried renaming the .ini etc and doing as you said...................

No Luck I,m afraid, still only incomplete sound as before. No Greating etc etc, just the Occasional phrase, jezz this is driving me nuts...................

Oblivion is installed in:

C\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion

User Account Control is turned off

I am using the 64 bit vertion Of Vista

If you have any other ideas I'd be greatful?

Many Thanks though for trying for me.

Thanks again

Where your companion's responses working properly in the original installation under XP?

If so, are you certain that your mod list and load order are the same now as they were under XP?

If the answer to both those questions is Yes, I would:

First, go into control panel, and check out the Audio settings, this might be corrected just by changing audio settings to stereo (Vista does handle audio considerably differently than XP)

If that doesn't help, then second, redownload and reinstall the suspect mods. You may just have a bad download.
