ceasefire457
I've always liked how in MoH: war-fighter you could change the way you looked down sight with the click of a button, now I don't if this is possible to do in F:NV, if so is anyone willing to do it?? and if you don't know what I'm on about have look on youtube its bound to be in the let's play's. Edited October 15, 2013 by ceasefire457

They have a couple of functions that might work (getWeaponSightUsage & setWeaponSightUsage) that could be bound to a hotkey. The other way would be using NVSE to change a weapon mod on the fly. I don't know if either method would require you to re-equip the weapon to see the change (thus making it worthless for what you want to do). devinpatterson
Also another point to keep in mind. Your model isn't changing so the scope will always be there (even with doing a on "the fly" weapon mod, it's still going to use the scope on both versions of the unmodded and modded weapon models). You may not be able to see much at all in the iron sights, if the sighting node is blocked by the scope or the scopes mounting.
ceasefire457
So it could work on say the unique cowboy repeater, and what about iron sight's/reflex sight's on the scope itself? like on the top of the scope.

If I remember correctly the La Longue Carabine's scope is offset, so it would be an excellent candidate for the mod. The sighting node can be raised to line up with iron sights places on a scope. But I think it would probably be unrealistic/impractical as the forward sight would have to be the height of the scope, plus a fraction more. That would potentially be a very odd model. Possibly looking more akin to the forward sight on the grenade launcher. A better solution by far would probably be to implement something like the La Longue above and offset all the scopes. That is relatively easy to do with the models and it shouldn't impact your iron sights.
ceasefire457
Sorry I mean the iron sights actually on the scope, I think the vanilla sniper rifle scope has the iron sights already, I'll get a picture up so you can see what I mean. :D

But lets just say they are iron sights on the scope, for the sake of this discussion. Since no sniper rifle in the game is sans scope, they probably didn't put any sighting node in the model. That means I'd have to add it and line it up. No problem to add it, but a real pain to line it up if you want it to be really accurate. Don't mean to be lazy, but I don't have a lot of free time and it's a really tedious process. You essentially have to add it, test it out in game, go back to the model make adjustments, reload the game to test it, ad nauseum :(
ceasefire457
Right, ok well I have a little experience in nifeskope and that wouldn't be a problem for me to do but my down-fall would be scripting in the hotkey to switch between the two views, and I'm just diabolical in blender so I couldn't put iron sight's on the scopes lol
ceasefire457
So does anyone want to help me do this? I'll do all the testing and GECK and nifeskope work I would just need someone to put the Iron sight's on the scopes and help me with the scripting in the Hot-key to change the view. Wow I really want to do this now lol :D Edited October 17, 2013 by ceasefire457

Wow I really want to do this now lol :D I think the offset scopes would be far better (plus you wouldn't have to worry about lining up the iron sights since they'd be done in the vanilla game by default. It's a lot of work getting them just right for 100% accuracy. But if you *really* want to go that way I can put scopes and sights on the scopes, on there for you.
