Chop Job on the Steel Helmet?

I've discovered that NifSkope is a black art. I just can't use the rotten thing, even after reading the tutes.

 

So I'm asking here of the following could be done;

 

Can the basic steel helmet mesh:

Be opened up at the face into an Archer's Sallet:

The general shape of the helmet as fine, as is the way it sits on the head. Only the face section needs cutting to shape.

 

(By the way, the proper name for the steel helmet is a 'Barbute' or 'Barbuta', and the archer's sallet was heavily influenced by it.)
