Monarch_Anor
why should we feel sorry for them...Well why should I feel sorry for you? These feelings are what make mankind a blight upon ourselves you only care about yourselves. I dont feel pity for you because you will get your reward... maybe you already have...and thats why you dont make 150-200k/year. If you worked hard to acquire that and it is taken from you...how would you feel? edit:You must be very distracted all the time, with you short attention spans and whatnot. The same way I am blissful right?

The same way I am blissful right? If my entire raison d'etre were to make over $250k/year, then perhaps I'd have chosen to a career in contract law, or finance, or what-have-you. Money, however, is not my primary motivator. Duty to my country and fellow man are my primary motivators. That's why I chose a career in the U.S. Army.I'm a Combat Medic now, having changed MOS after serving seven years as an Infantryman. Please don't be so stupid as to believe I am uncaring. Even if you factor in housing and food allowances, I only earn the equivalent of $48k/year, and that only because I'm married. If I happen across anyone who's bleeding on the side of the road, I try to save their life. That's my job.If somebody attacks the United States, and I am ordered to go destroy them, I do so. That's my job. I expect that the rich, who stand to lose a lot more than just their lives, pay a much higher percentage of the bill to support myself and my brothers-in-arms, than someone who earns only a living wage. Have you forgotten the old "Money is the root of all evil" expression? Or is money truly YOUR prime motivator?
Monarch_Anor
Ignorance doesn't live here.Only the top 1% of the population have incomes over $250k/year (according to the last available data from 2004, from a survey done by Emmanuel Saez and Thomas Picketty). The other 99% of us who make less than that... why should we feel sorry for them? Forgive me if THAT seems like you dont care. I still say you don't, just by the way. So you find someone bleeding on the side of the road and have to help them, its your job right? Do you want to help them? probably not. but its your job, and you have to do it right? Not everyone does things for money I agree. For instance...A geophysicist can make anything from 75-100k/year, straight out of college. Thats quite a bit, some jobs, people want to do because it is fun to them. And obviously your duty to the people of this country mean nothing too you. If so then you would care about the "1%". By the way...1% is around 280 thousand people, and everyone matters...right? That's egalitarian. My oath is to defend the Constitution, not the pocketbooks of a minute fraction of the population. If that makes me uncaring in your book, then I'll wear such a label proudly. My sister is a Chemical Engineer. Worked her keester off in school, graduated Summa "soda pop" (damned filter) Laude, started at $65k/yr when she got hired by Mallinkrodt. She's doing what she wanted to do, currently making more money than both my brother and I combined, and since she doesn't make over $250k/yr, her taxes aren't being increased.Your argument isn't holding water, Monarch. Are YOUR taxes being increased? EDIT: Stupid filter doesn't like Latin.
