Need some advice on what to do in game

I am playing as a regulator with the custom start location mod. I have 2 laser shots left, and just a handful of other bullets. I also have the Phalanx companion mod installed and I picked up Malcolm, since I am playing on hard I could use the help. But neither of us have many bullets and I am wanting to go out in the wastes and try combat, since I have never played with a companion.

 

I sold all my junk to Moira but that didn't get me many caps for ammo and stimpaks. I was wondering if anyone here knows a safe way to make some caps for ammo without running the risk of getting killed. I don't want to cheat because it takes all the challenge away. Thanks for any help.

Frankly, the best way to get ammo and caps is killing raiders and other neer-do-wells and taking their stuff. Get yourself a decent melee weapon so that you can still fight if your ammo runs out, as good armor as you can find, and go to town on the nearest enemy camp.

 

Also, keep an arsenal of different weapons so you don't have to rely on limited types of ammo. I probably shouldn't have to tell you this, but pick up any and all kind of ammo you find, and never ever sell or otherwise get rid of any of it.

 

I don't see why you worry about dying; just save before going into enemy territory and reload if you get killed. That's the whole point about saving anyway.

 

If you're totally stuck, consider lowering the difficulty. Challenge is a nice thing, but there's no shame in playing on medium or easy for an hour or two.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Have you used the Phalanx Follower mods? I was watching the videos of gameplay and it looks like it might be too taxing on FPS and looks a little chaotic. I currently have Malcolm and K-9 in my party. I'll have to see if Moira has a good or decent melee weapon. If you've used the Phalanx mods, is it possible to give Malcolm better armor or am I stuck with the Rivet City Security suit? Thanks again for the reply.

Nah. I'm kind of a lone wolf-type player. I barely use the vanilla companions, let alone modded ones. In fact, the only companions I like enough to bother with are Clover and Butch.
