Vagrant0
Race mods tend to be most hit or miss. Usage with nifscope doesn't mean a thing since there isn't anything that you can do in nifscope that would likely end up not breaking whatever mesh you tried to edit. Most race mods focus on using new skin textures, eyes, or high detail face textures, with the occasional reusage of horns, ears, tails. Even still, many of these are not widely used because they conflict with the more wider used race mods like Beautiful people due to adding new eyes or hairs. Trying to make a mod which gets alot of downloads is probably not something which should be one of your goals unless you like disappointment. Even those mods which have several months of skilled effort can end up getting unnoticed, or be something that few people want to try. Having screenshots and a good description can help, but if it doesn't seem to be something that looks interesting, that they can use right away, or looks to be something that would conflict with their other mods, most people will pass even if it looks great and sounds great. Of the mods I've released, none of them have more than 5000 views, and the only ones with more than a handful of downloads have been things which have immediate impact, like an enemy health bar replacement, or mods which add content which can be useful to some, like being able to enchant/spellcraft anywhere, with full range of effects, even those you don't know yet. Both of these are insultingly simple, while a more complicated mod, like my Halloween mod, has only about 30 downloads, most of those from around Halloween when I only had the test version up. Point is, it is not a matter of ability, effort, or any lack thereof that determines how willing people will be to download your mod, but rather what that mod adds, how it works with an already overly modded game, what it looks like, and what they need to do to even use it. Generally, mods which require starting a new game or character are not in high demand.
TehDarkPredator
Want to make usable race mods? Make a lore-friendly one. I'm sick and bored, and a lot of other people with me, of the 10489328797th Drow clone race. There are dozens of mods like that. Why doesn't anyone make the Akaviri monkeymen, snakemen and tigermen? The Elder Scrolls lore is filled with awesome things, but no one looks at it and does anything with it.
