Time traveller

It's possible to make a big mod, where you can travel between the present and the future of cyrodiil?

Suggestion: In all cyrodiil there are 10-15 time portals.

If you activate these portals, you'll be teleported 100 years in the future of tamriel, where lord dagon have invaded all the world and destroyed all the cities, and the mythic dawn is the new religion. When you defeat lord dagon (in the present, in the final mission), the future change and... (I leave this part to the modder)

Well, i guess that would be possible.

But this is some huge amount of work. And i mean HUGE.

You'll have to rebuild the whole Gameworld in "Oblivion Style" which would be less work then Bethesda had with the original World because this Oblivion Set is a bit dull. There would have to be about 10000 new Models for half-destroyed Houses. Since there are still some People, you'll have to add them. With new Conversation Topics. You'll have to check every NPC ingame for something religious that has to be changed. And of course the Names will have to be changes, since these are descendants of the original NPCs.

There would be many new Dremora NPCs, as Guards mostly.

Well, a modder would need more time then Bethesda took in making this Game.

And then, He'll have to do it all over again for the Version where Dagon is defeated.

Granted, this would be easier, since the only thing to do would be to make the Ruins decay a bit more. Add some random Buildings, change the Names of every single NPC in the World, Add Buildings, delete the Oblivion Crisis Dialogue, delete every time related Dialogue. Now talk about the "New Arena Champion" or how the Fighters Guild can rebuild itself now that the Blackwood Company is gone...

All in all, this would be a ridiculous Amount of Work.

But i would like to see the Future =)

I had had a thought to this effect... Basically, I have a mod which adds a TARDIS to the worldspace, which means you can fly about in that between cities. (The TARDIS is a time machine used in Dr Who, for those who don't know. It's a blue box which is huge on the inside and about the size of a phonebox on the outside)

Now, I had thought about the idea of time travel, and, as I suggested in another post, how about keeping the time traveller confined to a particular city? When they go back in time, they can only stay in a past or future version of Anvil, or the Imperial City, or even Kvatch? You could go back to Kvatch when it was whole, and forward to when the rebuilding is underway? There are mods which would have half the work done for the Kvatch rebuilding, so you could borrow states from that... Board off the outside of the Imperial city. Rubble over the city gates. Time can make paths impassible, and open up new ones. Modders could play about with a whole new time zone, and while doing the whole thing singlehandedly would be difficult, don't underestimate the modding community. Make it open source, and allow people to add on houses, paths, lakes, all that stuff, and have a collaboration. Everyone chipping in a bit would have the whole thing going very nicely indeed. If, as forli says, there are only a few portals, then what's to stop the mod from being confined to that immediate area? You could tie in a quest so that you needed to alter something in the past to continue the quest in the future, like going back and getting a key to a door that no-one has been able to open in centuries. That sorta thing... I think it would be more than workable, if it's kept on a sensible scale.

Maybe another idea is: after the final mission you can turn back time, one day before the Kvatch invasion.

So you can allert the people in the town and search for an army to fight and save the city.

You have only one day to to found an'army. Then the invasion will start. You must defeat all the daedra before the town is destroyed (The daedra are about 50, so you need a big army or you will be defeated). After the battle you turn back in the present and:

if you defeat the daedra, the city still exist. Good!

if you haven't found any army, or if the daedra destroy the town, the history will repeat

With this mod, the only change is: Rebuild Kvatch (with any of the thousand mods of kvatch), delete the Oblivion crisis topics and dialogue, "freeze" all the other quests, and create a new quest.
