SangRahl
I've had some success in making a visual representation of carrying a weapon that isn't equipped, and I was wondering if someone with Modeling software could create the "holstered weapon" meshes (attached already to the skeleton at the correct position, if possible) so that I could see if implementing further would be possible. I don't have any 3D Modeling software (not to mention being about 15 years behind the curve... I learned on 3DSr4) and I'm a veritable Nifskope 'newbie'... I generally just use it to track down the original texture files for armor meshes and get real-time feedback while retexturing. The concept is incredibly simple, though the scripting beyond what I did with the Vampire's Edge and gaijune's 'Wanderer's Backsheath' will likely be a royal *censored* to work out... especially if I try and take this further than just the 'Unique' weapons. Having multiple weapons of the same name would probably send the script into epileptic fits. The idea is simple... Have the weapon mesh be used as a piece of armor that is scripted to appear when the weapon is on-hand, but not equipped. And then when the weapon is equipped the "armor" is removed, leaving the equipped weapon in it's place. If I could get this to work, this would give the capability to stroll the wastelands with a pistol on your hip, a knife at your side, and a rifle/big gun/big melee weapon on your back... a walking arsenal of death. (And with gaijune's 'backsheath', you could even add a chinese sword and combat knife to the MadMax-esque pile of weapons about your person.) Note: The Vampire's Edge & scabbard script is purely visual (and also unreleased until I can work out a few kinks I'm running into with GECK's refusal to accept texture changes to the sheathed weapon)... when you equip the sword, the scabbard is empty and the weapon is placed at your hip where Bethesda set it to be carried. There's no animation for drawing the weapon from over-the-shoulder, but I felt that it did make a nice change when what you see on your back is linked to what you actually have in your inventory. gaijune
I'll be working on stuff like this when I find the time, but I don't want that fact to discourage anyone from contributing. The more diverse additions the better, in a sense.
