bcaton
I wanted to make a few perks based on old roleplaying games like Space Opera, where you could be a transhuman, or gamma world, if anyone remembers that. However, none of the tutorials i can find focus on a simple step by step "how-to" to make a new perk. Can someone show me where one is or even make one for me? If you are feeling generous, with screenshots! If not quite that generous, just text and maybe i can do the screenshots and post. I tried doing it myself and it looked good in Geck but wouldn't even appear in the game :P A basic one might be : You have mutated! Your exposure to the radioactives and mutagenic compounds left over from the war has warped your body. You lose size, 2 to strength and endurance, but your intelligence has increaed with your overgrown cranium. Int +2, chr -3, carrying -50, barter +10 (you can figure out when people lie to you), science +10. That might not be balanced but you get the idea. Guest
Ok, I am tired, I realized after wrinting this tutorial it is a complete mess, and too long. The first part of this tutorial just explains what each widnow/option is for in the process, the second part if actually making the perk. I'll try and tidy this up a bit later, when I've gotten some sleep.Part 1:First, go to the perk category (Actor Data > Perk)http://i41.tinypic.com/2ykgd8k.jpgYou should now see a list of perks.http://i41.tinypic.com/dqltsw.jpgRight click a perk, and click new.http://i39.tinypic.com/j8mtl0.jpg I'll try and explain all the options, and what to do in order.http://i42.tinypic.com/n35gmd.jpg 1 - ID: The ID the editor uses to list your perk. 2 - Name: The name you see ingame. 3 - Perk Icon: The picture shown ingame with the perk highlighted. 4 - Trait : Unsure actually.Playable - decides whether or not the player can choose this perk.Hidden - Im only guessing here, but I think this changes whether or not the player can see the perk in his perk list (Prolly for when an item or something gives you a perk) 5 - The level the player needs to be to be able to choose the perk 6 - Number of times the player can choose the perk. 7 - The description of the perk shown ingame. 8 - Conditions need to be met in order to get the perk (i.e, needing to be a girl to get the action girl perk.) 9 - The actual perk effects. Alright, now you can fill that out however you want, but the last part can be confusing. Right click the empty space in the perk entries area, and click new.http://i44.tinypic.com/2rcxyky.jpg Again, gonna explain each section.http://i40.tinypic.com/20sdpxy.jpg 1 - What rank of the perk you are adding/editing 2 - Not actually sure... 3 - Choose what the perk gets its effect from (Yes yes, the roots go deep, don't they?) You're gonna want Ability. 4 - Not sure. 5/6 - Again, not sure (I'm great at explaining this, aren't I? 7 - The conditions for the effects to work I beleive. Now, before you can actually do anything here, you need to go back to the object window. You're gonna wanna go to Actor Effect > Abilityhttp://i40.tinypic.com/fa1l61.jpg Right click, New. You should now see the following windowhttp://i40.tinypic.com/2d93529.jpg 1/2 - Already explained. 3 - The type of effect. You're gonna need to set it to Ability. 4.1 - I'm guessing this makes it where an NPC or whatever can't reflect whatever you're effect would do to them, but for what you want, it won't be needed.4.2 - Not quite sure on this4.3 I'm gonna guess LOS means line of site, but whatever the case, won't be needed for what you want. 5.1 PC i beleive stands for Player Character, so I'm guessing if this is ticked, you'll start out with the effect.5.2 I have no idea what the hell that means. 6 - The effect of the ability. 7 - Don't ask me... Right click in the effects area, and click new Should see the following windowhttp://i40.tinypic.com/20pouhc.jpg 1 - The type of effect. 2 - Who it effects (pretty sure you can only select Self) 3 - I don't think you can even mess with this. 4 - How long it lasts, leave it at 0. 5 - How strong the effect is. 6 - Iunno. 7 - Already Explained 8 - ‾\(°_o)/‾ Ok, now for the actual tutorial. Guest
Part 2 Bring the Actor Effect window up, (Game Effects > Actor Effects) change the ID and name to whatever you like. In the effect area, click new, change the effect to IncreaseIntelligence, and set the magnitude to 2. Hit ok. Click new again. Change the effect to ReduceCharisma, set magnitude to 2. Hit ok. Click new again, change effect to ReduceCarryWeight, set magnitude to 50 Click new yet again, change the effect to IncreaseSkillBarter, set magnitude to 10. Should wind up with something like this:http://i42.tinypic.com/dpfqci.jpg Now go back to the park category (Actor Data > Perk), right click and hit new, if you haven't already made it yet. Change the ID and Name to whatever you like. Go ahead and give it whatever description you want. Now choose what level you can get it at (I chose 10), and how many ranks (choose 1 for now) Under perk entries, click new. Click the circle next to "Ability", click the arrow, and scroll until you find your perk (Goes by ID, not name) Now click ok. Should now have something that looks like this: http://i42.tinypic.com/j8d35k.jpg Now click ok. And wala, you supposedly have just created a perk. Now, go in game, and (if you're below level 9) push ~ top open the console, and type player.setlevel 9, then type advlevel. the level up screen should come up, in which you can check if you made it right.
