Windows Vista Users: If you're having problems running this game under Windows Vista, first make sure that you're using the latest Vista graphics and audio drivers for your hardware, and the latest version of this game (see page 4 for patch details). Next, make sure you don't change your UAC settings after the game has been installed, as due to Virtualization this can change the location of the game files and settings. If you can't launch the game successfully when UAC is enabled, you will need to run the game with full Admin privileges. To do this either right-click on the launch icon and select 'Run as Administrator', or right-click on the launch icon, select Properties and under the Compatibility tab tick 'Run this program as an administrator' then click OK. I strongly recommend that you refer to the TweakGuides Tweaking Companion for Windows Vista for more information on how to get optimal trouble-free performance in Vista.

hey kottonking i did everything you said and it still doesn't work!!! Another thing came to my attention i recently broke my disk drive... i have no idea how to replace it short of buying a new computer (which i am unwilling to do considering the current financial circumstances), so i am now buying everything i can from the one place i trust = steam. Unfortunately that means many of my old games don't work so i spent hours trying to find cracks for my games and thank god it works (yes i realise ive probably got 10000's of viruses) i was wondering if thats the problem?

It would be cheaper to to buy a new disk drive rather than a new computer.

Possibly. There and literally millions of types of virus that can affect any part of your computer. Your best bet is to reset your computer to its default setting or invest in a virus protection program. Also if you have a lot of viruses already I wouldn't suggest you turn of your UAC. If you reset your computer it will wipe clean your hard drive of any thing installed on it after you purchased it. So it would be a good idea to make a back up copy of any thing you might want to keep that you will be unable to get again after the reset. On the other hand if your computer is embedded with viruses, whatever you make a copy of might have a virus in it. So if you reinstall the back up with a virus after the reset it would be like throwing gas on a fire.

My article is how I install my mods every time. With the exception of OMOD ready mods. To install an OMOD ready file once you download it open the default download file (most likely "downloads" which is under "user") and double click the OMOD file and it will auto install through OBMM. But still place the file in you Oblivion Mods folder.

Short of that there isn't much more I can do for you without actually being there and doing it myself. I hope you get your mods to work and I'm sorry my article wasn't much help for you. I wish it was like it has been for several people. Remember this, I'm not telling you to reset your computer. It was more of an option for you to consider. It might or might not remove the viruses so do so at your own risk.

I swat down any post that even mentions the possibility of pirated games. And you have just made it clear why I am so down on pirated games.

First, you don't know what else you are getting with the game. Virus and malware distributors love pirates who download games, they are so gullible - here , download this game for free and I will give you a bonus program that will steal your fathers credit card numbers and send them to a site in Nigeria where I will use it to buy $10,000 worth of junk and bill it to him.

Second, You don't know if you are really getting the entire game or not, Trust me, I'll screw you. Many pirated versions are based on the D2D version, and even if the guy you got it from (3rd hand? 23rd hand?) gives you a good copy, The D2D can not be patched and cannot use OBSE as well as many popular mods that require them.

Third, no matter how you try to justify it, piracy is theft. No more and no less. The great programmers who wrote the game make their living and feed their families from the money paid to buy the game. If no one buys, then no new games, and the programmer gets laid off.

Buy a new copy - don't be so cheap

Topic closed due to violation of board policy - discussion of piracy.
