[LE] Wood chopping block not getting any wood ;)

Recommended Posts

I have managed to set up crafting stations for enchanting, smithing and alchemy etc and they all work as expected. I have also set up a wood chopping block with a woodcutter axe nearby. If I take the axe and then try to chop wood, the animation starts - he picks up the wood and places it on the block, but then it stops suddenly and I am left looking forwards with no firewood in my inventory. If I try to chop without taking the axe then it says you need a wood chopping axe but the full animation plays anyway and he cuts the wood repeatedly but does not stop, and of course there is no wood in the inventory. I am pretty sure I have the correct axe as it displays as wood cutters axe, and I think there is only one chopping block available in the vanilla game. Could it be to do with the alignment being at 0 degrees to North (like with weapon racks?) or could it be anything nearby interfering? I am assuming like the other crafting stations I don't have to separate add a trigger zone or xmarker and link them like with weapon and armour mannequins?

Try this:

- Start the game and from the menu 'COC' to your cell to test things (do not load a save!!), if by 'COC' to your cell everything is working properly, then the issue is with your save file, which by the way you should never use to test things, save file usage is required only under specific circumstances for testing purposes.

I had started a new save and it then worked fine - so it was the save file as you pointed out. Is there a reason why you can't use a save file and have to COC into the cell - up to this point I had been using a save file and everything had been working fine, maybe when things are added the save gets confused?

Among the many reasons which the most important are that scripts and references object positioning are baked in the save file, so if for example you made a save > and then you change the positioning of an object > and then you go back to your cell using your previously made save file, the object you move in CK will not reflect on your game because the object retains the positioning dectated by the save file.

Using 'COC' to check / test your cell's building progress is much more faster and reliable.

The use of a save file for testing purpose is only required when you will be testing some sort of scripts, but again here it is not always required and it depends on the nature of the script.
