Riddleofsteel
My system is essentially this: Q95508 gb DDR2-1066GTX 285 SSC What resolution of NeilMC's terrain and city tex packs should I use? I was using 4096 but I have had outdoor crashes that I think might be video stress related so I switched to 2048 for cities and 1024 for terrain. It looks a little different but I haven't played long enough since the switch to notice stability increases. Also, should I use v-sync or is it just an FPS killer? I had it on but tried without it to see if I got better performance, but the screen tearing was pretty visible. Any advice on these two things would be really helpful. Thanks. xDLGx
Go with the high textures, not the very high ones. With the memory leaks the game has I don't think any current machine can run the very high textures completely stable. A lot of crashes are related to the game failing to flush the video memory. Also experiment with how high you can keep AA. High AA causes the game to crash for many people. Keeping it off or no higher than 2x can help a lot. Riddleofsteel
Hmm, I am trying no AA and the jaggies are getting to me. Also, does changing the iFPSclamp value make your character seem to be moving slower even when running? This kind of ties in with my "Springvale Crash" thread. I get crashes to desktop and stuttering and I am trying to rule out any cause for it.
xDLGx
No idea about the iFPSclamp but when I tried using very high textures I got almost contant stutter every few seconds when outside, and a crash within 5-10 minutes. I've had to turn AA down to x2, stopped random crashes, and stopped horrible lag in VATS.
Riddleofsteel
I seem to have mouse lag for some reason even though I have disabled acceleration. I am moving the camera around while brandishing a hunting rifle and something doesn't feel/look right. How can I eliminate mouse lag? I am using vsync. xDLGx
I've never had mouse lag. Have you tried to eliminate graphics settings as a problem? Like go with low graphics settings and default settings, see if the mouse lag is still present. Turning off vsync can help...personally I prefer to use vsync in all games though. Also check that option about prerendering frames... try switching that on and off.
Riddleofsteel
Okay, it looks like it isn't mouse lag. It's some kind of frame skipping. I have max frames to render ahead set to 3 (default) in both Rivatuner and Nvidia Control panel. I have tried with AA off, v-sync disabled EVERYWHERE, and by changing cache settings in my .ini files and it still does it. I don't remember this problem starting any more than a few days ago. If I turn v-sync off it doesn't fix the skipping but gives me screen tearing. Does anyone know what else can cause frame skipping when I bring up my pipboy, close the pipboy, or turn in a circle with a weapon drawn? Thanks.
