TroyKikumaru
Yeah so i've been playing ESOB for quite some time and then one day, i desided to watch some vids on youtube... found some funny ones too :D then i came across a chuck norris looking char and asked my self... how the heck did they do that? So i tried to make some custom chars my self (that resembled actors, celebs, etc) and like dang, its impossible. Did some research and well... after hours of research, i was led to this website and i was blown away! This site has been here all this time? Either way it made playing OB so much more funner :P ANYWAYS... I downloaded some hairs, some eyes... some chars... checked them in the date files option at start... but the game wont let me play... did some more research... updated... nothing... more research.. download more files... worked on some.. like hairs and stuffs... but i still can't get character files to work... blah blah blah... my question is how do i use these mods? I mean i've placed them where i think they should be... C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data... extracted them... is there a specific order in how im supposed to download these awesome mods made by these awesome peoples? or like maybe a master file that makes everything work? I kinda wanted to create this character i've played in this one online game, he became alive due to stories i've written about him, my girlie though it was cool so she made a char her self and i wanted to make her too! See them in 3D and interact with the OB world! REAL COOL!!! Please help, i know total noob status but total noobs turn into great nerds! =D thank you in advance for taking the time to read this, and uhh, help me out! I've been dieing to play but I wanna make my char! I'll post images of them on here, along side a very special thank you note to whom ever decides to work with me on this =D erm... hmm I just had this crazy though of posting on here like... what kind of mods i wanted to use... I dont know maybe it would be better to be more specific on what I want to use? therefore resolving the problem sooner? idk... if it helps great, if it doesnt well hehe more for you to read :P Thanks again guys, gals! -TK

RavenWhitehawk
I am so sorry about being such a Newb, but I do not understand anything that is being said in this thread, Please forgive me. Here is my Problem, I will try to explain it as best as I can. I downloaded a mod but the file does not have a .zip or .rar Extension, instead the file has a (Which I am assuming means Oblivion Mod) .OMOD Extension. the only thing I can think of is that I downloaded the Wrong File. I would really love to learn how to do this correctly as there are a few Mods I would love to add to my Oblivion Game, any assistance would be Greatly Appreciated. Yes I have the TES Construction Set, and I am learning how to use it. Begging for some patience with my newbness Raven

Super awesome dezdimona! I haven't tried, i actually didn't think i'd get a reply so fast! =D I'm gonna DL now... lets see what happens 11:59 pm pst:clicked on the first link =Dhttp://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=21998Awesome, makes things more organized... 12:04 am pst:clicked on second link... ...http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2097downloaded ALL 4 FILES! Saved on desk top... transferred them to C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion... <b> BUT</b> I made a folder named OBMM(I dont know if that will make a difference, i'm gonna extract all files in that folder... you dont have to name it OBMM... ...) 12:12 am pst:clicked on third link >:Dhttp://timeslip.chorrol.com/obmm_download.htmlBooooo! my internet tripped... gotta reset modem... YAY! Back... took like... 2 min off of that, ok so uhh, whoa there are alot of links in here... todays date is 4-20-2009 and the latest im guessing for oblivion is 1.1.8... thats the one i clicked on and that saved to desk top as well... im also transferring that file to the OBMM folder...(again, i dont know if it makes a difference, i just like to be organized that way... I don't really like a messy desk top :P) (preferences =D) 12:19 am pst:Wow 20 minutes to do all that? there you go guys, those of you who are reading this, it doesn't take all that long. =D thanks again dezdimona =D I'm not gonna post what i do after clicking obmm_setup, i dont wanna ruin the surprise (if any) for testing reasons, i downloaded Sonnet (she's freakin' cute)http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16329 technically, i removed OB from my comp and reinstalled it. (perfectionist) soooo i have to create a saved games folder... i dont know where to make it so what i'll do is start a game, save it... then find where that folder is, and put sonnet in it =D... here we go... Oh cool ok so it created a folder for me in "my documents" popped Sonnet in it, aannnddd extracted the file in the "saves" folder... uhh, took the winrar file out of "saves" folder, and placed it on a new created folder temporarily placed on my desk top hehe (breakin the rules) it extracted the files, super awesome... i remember dezdimona saying .esp files go into the data folder and there happens to be a .esp file in sonnet winrar file... so im doing just that... Oh, im also placing meshes and textures in the data folder... OH BUT WAIT! theres already a Textures folder.. what did i do? I just open the sonner textures folder and cut "characters" and pasted that in the already made Textures folder... why? because "effects" folder is in "textures" and i didn't want to delete that =D i dont know if it makes a difference yet but were about to find out... hmm.. good thing i checked... theres a folder in there names "Nec Sonnet Savegame (mature) ughh where are my manners... thank you Nec01 for making such a cute character =D alright so yeah, i took out the .ess file out of that and placed it in the "saves" folder... and since "Nec Sonnet Savegame" is empty, i deleted it... hehehe ok so im testing now to see if its gonna work... hehehe oops, don't forget to click the "data files" option and click on the Sonnet one, hehehe nothing would have worked if we didn't do that heheh right? =D ok so here we go again, take two! HAHAHA ok so i can now play the cutest, bald, blind High Elf! ehehe that is what she is though right? Im guessing because i dont have the eyes and hair mod? the make up and facial structure is still there, everything works just fine! Thank you very much for the tips, and the warm greeting =D, i have a basic understanding on how to work these new files, heheh see? im growing into a nerd :P anyways yes again thank you! I hope those of you who are reading this received the same reaction as i did (excitement) just because everything works now =D uhh, i know i type too much, but atleast its detailed right? that way you kinda have a better idea? than just clicking a link? well... i tried :D Very cool! Ima go dl some more cools stuffs! Troy Kikumaru: Dezdimona, you Rock!
TroyKikumaru
Hey guys, I ran into a little trip here uhh, I opened and read the "read me file for Sonnet, and it told me to down load other things to make it work... so i did and there were like other folders that popped up that were already created... ie "Meshes" & "Textures" The only thing i did with those is cut out the file thats from the new "meshes" & "Textures" and pasted them on the already made "Meshes" & "Texture" files... Now when I got to the last part of the downloads... egmfiles, i extracted it and i got nothing but .egm files... where do i place all those? It says hair01.egm through hair26.egm... I looked around to see if maybe i can place them somewhere... (the right folder) and I found a folder... uhhC:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\Meshes\Characters\Corean\hairand it has those files in there already... do i need to replace them all? I did play the game to test Sonnet... the hair works just fine... so do i still need to replace them all? Thanks =D I have a deal with the eyes thing but im gonna try and do it on my own... if all else fails.. hehehe you'll be hearing from me... thanks again =D
bben46
Welcome to the Nexus. It sound like you got the right help and are well on your way to becoming a mod junky. Hint. Don't try to install a bunch of mods all at once. test each one as you load it and fix problems before moving on. Be sure to read the read me files with each one - as you have already seen, not all mods install the same way, and some require other mods or programs to work.
