JacktheTribal
I made a companion mod, gave them very limited dialog and made sure that it's all unique to them. The mod loads and works fine. However, now when I speak to anyone the game crashes as soon as their greeting is done. It's been every NPC I've tried so far. What in the world could I have possibly done to have this happen? pkleiss
There are so many possibilities, its tough to tell from your brief description. Did you make voice fies for your companion, or are they just text? Did you create a custom voice type? What conditions did you apply to your dialogue infos? Since this is happening to all NPCs, it sure sounds like you've made some dialogue that is being used universally. Still, that wouldn't necessarily crash the game. Did you modify the generic Greeting topic? If no one else responds with the specific solution, I would ask that you pass me a link to your mod so that I could DL and take a look at it. If you do that, please mention the companion's GECK object ID (name) and editor location so I can find it quickly.
JacktheTribal
Sorry for the delay, I work nights so I'm asleep during most of the day.It was all text based, I did make a custom voice type, solely because it kept trying to place standard conversation topics in the topics list (which it did regardless) when I used a default voice type. The only conditions I used are the GetIsID (NPC) and then GetQuestVariable (NPC quest related to handling the NPC which was unique and made for the NPC) so that I could have them follow, wait, sandbox around my house and trade with me. All topics are made unique to the NPC I made except the GREETING topic.I did add a few lines to the GREETING topic, but made sure they were all unique to the NPC. Would that have done it?I'll have to upload it to the nexus (and it's still in a test phase, I have a quest and more dialog planned, but just wanted to make sure they actually function first) before I you can download it.Thanks for replying. pkleiss
I wrote a tutorial on dialogue (it's in my signature), and my offer was more of an offer to check your mod prior to releasing it on the nexus. You could upload it to Mediafire or the like, if you wish, and pass me the link via PM if you don't want others to see it. Again, it's pretty hard to diagnose issues like this without looking directly at the mod.
