Boss and "dirty files" causing game to crash?

I have now for a while noticed that when i run BOSS there is about 15 mods (out of 100 i think) where it "highligts" the fact that there are "dirty files" and that it needs cleaning. and when i play skyrim there will sometimes be "specific places" where the game will crash and sometimes it happens randomly... allthough i believe that my game runs around 45-60 fps i have tried a clean install of the game but it still shows "dirty files"

some of the "files" or mods are:

  • Update.esm Active
    • Bash Tag suggestion(s): {{BASH: Delev, Relev}}
    • Contains dirty edits: 92 ITM, 3 UDR records. Needs TES5Edit cleaning. A cleaning guide is available here.
  • Dawnguard.esm Active
    • Contains dirty edits: 619 ITM, 82 UDR records. Needs TES5Edit cleaning. A cleaning guide is available here.
    • Bash Tag suggestion(s): {{BASH: Delev, Relev}}
  • Dragonborn.esm Active
    • Contains dirty edits: 61 ITM, 8 UDR records. Needs TES5Edit cleaning. A cleaning guide is available here

and there are 12 other mods having simmilar messages. could this be the reason for the trouble im having?

More then likely I would say so (to a certain extent), by "dirty files" it's referring to the records within the files. Reinstalling skyrim won't fix it you have to use TESVEdit (as Boss suggests) to clean the files.

Here is a video of gopher's which covers this topic it is quite easy to follow.

You can, alternatively use the cleaning guide as suggested by boss either way will assist you in cleaning your mods.

If you are not using the Unofficial Skyrim Patches (and also the ones for your dlcs) I would suggest you do, they fix some of the issues that cause CTDs (Crashes to Desktop).

Okay so i watched the video :

And i noticed that he mentions at 05:18 that "a modded skyrim will have some problems if you" "remove the dirty files"

So now i wonder if it is possible to deactivate all the other 12 mods(in my case) that has dirty files(if possible) and then make a new save

without those mods, clean them and then reactivate.... will that work? and how about cleaning the update,dawnguard and dragonborn.esm?

He's not wrong Mods created by the community do sometimes have Dirty Edits within them that are on purpose (The unofficial patches for one), so as a rule I wouldn't clean anything other then update, dawnguard, hearthfires and dragonborn.

EDIT: Although after rewatching the video he's referring to undeleting which is important and explains at that point that doing so safeguards mods which use that record from crashing since it doesn't exist anymore by placing it back in (A bit overly simplified at what it actually does but there it is :wink: ).

As long as your are using the “Undelete and Disable References”, as gopher shows you at around 5:20 each time you clean there should be no issue with cleaned masters causing your game to crash due to being... well cleaned.
